At this point, anybody on this team besides Preston Wilson would be a better leadoff choice than Willy T. Garner obviously thinks Willy is on pace to be one of the best CF's in the game (according to Richard Justice, or was it the announcing team... I forget)... but Willy is doing his best to squash that theory, by currently regressing. I know its only his 2nd full year of playing at any level above AA... which is exactly why we shouldn't be putting him in such an important part of the lineup.
Willy cannot bat #1... nor can he bat #2. That is my main point... that he needs to be nowhere near the top of the lineup right now. The more chances he gets to bat, the worse he is looking... and he's getting way too many chances to bat, given that he's in the top of the order.
Bruntlett Biggio Berk Mo Lamb PW Ausmus Willy The only way Bruntlett really helps this team by starting is if he can hit at the top of the order.
Of course, Bruntlett never been asked to do that in his big league career (not sure about the minors or Stanford). He's never been a regular starter. He's in a good groove right now, and you always run the risk of too much pressure too quick or whatever messing him up. Morgan needs to snap the hell out of it. As does 3/4 of the pitching staff. At least the Stros can catch & throw tonight. Baby steps.
At this point, moving Willy out of the top of the order could be addition by subtraction. I do think Willy can be a very good hitter... but he's just being overmatched when pitchers bear down against that leadoff spot. He's actually a pretty decent bad-ball hitter... its the strikes that he's having problem hitting somewhere. Moving Willy down could actually benefit HIM more than it benefits the team... but in the end, the team should still be better off for it.
Just another poor outing by Andy. He's just not getting it done. Maybe he just sucks without his pal Roger around. We need him to turn it around if we're going to do anything but, so far, there's no indication he's coming around. Three hits by an opposing pitcher? Ugh! Are we expecting Backe back any time soon? This team is bi-polar. I swear. I'm disappointed in how we've been playing for a while now. I can't even bring myself to watch it. I just follow the box score at this point. I'm waiting for Roger to bring some heart and life back to this dreary team. It might be a good time to have a closed door team meeting as well. Let's get past this sh*t baseball we're playing currently.
Pujols strained an oblique tonight. Definitely to the DL, probably out 3-6 weeks. Time to pick it up.
That was a pretty amazing catch by Freel off the Lamb liner into the gap. Definately play of the night quality.
You were not posting near this much if hardly at all in the Astros forum in previous seasons. Otherwise we surely would remember how annoying you are.
