    Lol exactly the garm mentality.

    The issue is two-fold:
    1) our system is ****
    2) it's our guards and wings. They routinely do things that cause our defense to fail. Whether that be laziness, gambling, or missed rotations, all these things lead to the same terrible outcome.

There is no individual to blame, because they are all at fault. I think JB is doing a fine job, I really like him, but on the business end of things he needs to go. JB needs more time as a head coach, but the Rockets don't need a headcoach who needs more time being a headcoach. They need a boss. Thibs or JVG. Pay one of them what ever it takes to get them here, and Morey is pretty ****ing close to getting fired.

guards do not make Dwight to not challenge his man in the post and just lazily wait for the rebound. Dwight has been gawd awful in man-to-man defense situation also, there is no one to blame but for Dwight's lazy ass.

It sure is collective, and having your leader not trying and not held accountable for lack of trying spreads to everyone else on the team.

If Harden and Howard both sucks on offense, Harden should get more blame.

The reverse is true also. If both play poor defense, Howard should be the main focus of our criticism, since he is our defensive anchor after all.

Imagine Harden not doing his part offensively? and earning 20+mil in the process?

That's what Dwight is doing right now.

Well Dwight is getting paid $22 million. Plus his offensive game is bad. His defense and athleticism makes him or made him a star. He was defensive player of the year. Mutombo was better than him defensively now when Mutombo was in his 40's. I'm saying all this to say he is the leader on defense. For our team to be trash defensively you have to start off by looking at how Dwight is playing and it's just not good at all.

look like this needs to be pointed out again.

no if your team is trash defensively, you look at the unit as a whole which is exactly the case here. There's not one player who can make a defense look great on his own. It doesn't work that way. Even though Harden is trash defensively, he alone isn't the reason why this team is last in defense. But people here feel the need to find scapegoats and just blame it on single players as if they are the cause because looking at the bigger picture maybe a little too difficult for them.

This article doesn't say much of anything that hasn't been said - though perhaps not compiled like this.

Howard is clearly not as good defensively as he was. He is still a top 10 rim protector but hardly a max contract defensive anchor.

Harden - well, he's not as bad as the rap goes but he's not great.

Beverley hasn't been the same in years.

Ariza's drop off is the most unpredictable - he was our guy last year. Wonder if the DGAF mentality is taking root.

We haven't had a consistent starting PF all year, and they've all been lousy defensively. Even D Mo.

This roster needs a major overhaul and a 180 coaching change. Look at Atlanta. When their offense started sputtering, they doubled down on defense. Where's our commitment, our direction?

The winning dunk by Favors is a perfect example of how pinning this pathetic defense on Dwight is an idiotic take. Ariza gets beat in the middle of the court, allowing dribble penetration, and Dwight steps up to help. By stepping up to help, Favors is left wide open for the easy dunk.

Dwight needs to keep his hands up and jab and recover. Asik was fantastic at it. We pay Dwight to make such plays.

a lot of people don't see that around here. it's a little too difficult for them to see it. its much easier to lay blame on one person when as a collective unit many are at fault there.

How about the perimeter defenders not allow easy dribble penetration? How about teammates rotate to Dwight's man to prevent an easy dunk when he has to step up to cut off said dribble penetration?

If your defensive system is predicated on your center stopping dribble penetration, then having to retreat back to his open man to stop an easy shot at the rim, your system sucks.

Dwight had 6 blocks last night. Please explain how he accumulated such block totals without contesting shots.
