The Rockets want Reddick, Reddick wants the Rockets. but there's a problem. Orlando, who picks one pick before the 12th pick, has Shelden as the first player on their charts(who will be gone by their pick) and Redick right below him. ...“I guess it wasn’t a very good day for him,” Celtics director of basketball operations Danny Ainge said of the 6-foot-4 shooting guard’s week, which started with a call to the C’s to cancel his pre-draft workout scheduled for Saturday in Waltham.

The reason? Unspecified back pain.

“It sounds like it was an aggravation of his back from all of the workouts he’s gone through so far,” said Ainge, who rescheduled the session with Redick for June 26, two days before the draft, though he admitted that could change for a variety of reasons.

Though he would like to work out the guard again, Ainge saw Redick and Brandon Roy - the Washington guard who isn’t expected to be available when the Celtics pick at No. 7 - during a group workout two weeks ago in Los Angeles.

Considered a top 5 pick, Roy somewhat predictably canceled a trip to Waltham for a June 22 workout for Ainge and his staff. “He backed out of it,” Ainge said. “I guess they feel he’ll definitely be gone.”

On Monday, Redick canceled a workout scheduled for yesterday with the Orlando Magic, who have the No. 11 pick in the draft. The Magic weren’t sure why he backed out and didn’t reschedule the session.

...“I regret what happened last night and want to apologize to my family and the Duke community for the incident,” Redick said in a statement.
Though Redick’s DUI charges aren’t expected to affect his availability, the same can’t be said for his status among those general managers holding lottery picks.

Ainge declined comment on Redick’s new dilemma, other than to repeat what he had said two weeks ago regarding UConn guard Marcus Williams’ theft arrest: “You hate to see someone penalized for making a mistake at a young age like this.”

I don't understand how it would be an aggravation of his back from all the workouts... he has only missed 30 games in his whole college career.

You are joking right? I don't know how many games that Duke has played in the last four years, but Sheldon Williams and JJ Redick have both played 33, 37, 33 then 36. Idenical 30 games missed?

Either way, he sucks... don't draft him other NBA teams!

Rookie workouts resume today with Arkansas’ Ronnie Brewer, perhaps the best defensive guard in the draft, part of a mix that also includes Villanova’s Allan Ray, North Carolina’s David Noel and Miami’s Guillermo Diaz.

Noel was added in place of Duke’s J.J. Redick, who canceled because of a sore back, though the Blue Devil shooter is still expected to come in for a workout two days before the June 28 draft.

Ainge said that little is known about the severity of Redick’s back injury, though he expects to receive a copy of the report from the guard’s physical over the weekend, taken during the league’s pre-draft camp in Orlando.

“It’s been confirmed by doctors that he hurt his back,” Ainge said. “We’re just not sure to what extent of the injury is. But he’s not faking it because someone is trying to hide him. We know that much.”

do not draft reddick....after the surgery his sharpshooting ability wil be gone or diluted.......BREWER WITH THE 8TH PICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He isn't having surgery. However, I don't think Redick is the guy the Rockets are targeting.
