I know, I don't believe it for a minute.....sounds like manuevering to make sure that Redick gets to the team he wants to go....Rockets? DD
I am calling complete bs on this report and this website in general. Don't you think that if this were true, the Duke loving station known as ESPN would be reporting it?????? Keep the "inside" info coming Docgundy, it further gives me doubt about your credibility.
It really sounds like your stretching DD. There are many ways to manuever to make sure you get to a team you want to go to. You don't have to put out rumors that you're having back problems and might have the possibility of surgery. If he didn't want to workout for Orlando, all he has to do is cancel, you really don't have to give a reason. When he first cancelled it, people thought he might have gotten a Top 10 guarantee (which I thought was ridiculous). They could have left it at that instead of citing a back problem as the reason.
Ummm, Oklahoma took their name from people who cheated on the wagon race (see below): In the 1800s before Oklahoma was a state, it was officially designated Indian Territory and was settled by the Cherokee, Choctaw, Creek, Chickasaw, and Seminole tribes who had been forced to give up their lands and move west. Giving in to pressure from eager expansionists, the U.S. government opened up 2 million acres of the land to homesteaders in 1889. To claim a lot of land, prospective settlers had to participate in a land run. They lined up and waited for the blast of a shotgun to signal the beginning of the run, at which point they would race eagerly to claim a homestead. A "Sooner" was someone who snuck past the territory markers ahead of the gunshot to get an early start. Today Oklahoma is known as the Sooner State, and the various athletic teams of the University of Oklahoma are called the Sooners. The official mascot of the University of Oklahoma is the Sooner Schooner, a covered wagon drawn by two horses named Sooner and Boomer, and the school fight song is "Boomer Sooner."
I know what a Sooner is! I go to the university for God's sake. I'm saying that the "bandwagon" you mentioned would be a schooner which is explained here: http://www.soonersports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=300&KEY=&ATCLID=30032 Sooner Schooner The Sooner Schooner is a conestoga (covered wagon) reminiscent of the mode of travel used by pioneers who settled Oklahoma Territory. Powered by matching white ponies named Boomer and Sooner, the Schooner races across Owen Field in a triumphant victory ride after every OU score. The Schooner was introduced in the fall of 1964 and become the official mascot of the Oklahoma Sooners in 1980. The Ruf/Neks, OU's all-male spirit squad, maintain and drive the Schooner. Mick Cottom, a freshman Ruf/Nek member from Liberty Mounds, Okla., has the distinction of being the first person to pilot the Schooner across Owen Field in 1964. The Sooner Schooner and accompanying ponies are kept at the Bartlett Ranch in Sapulpa, Okla. Charley F. (Buzz) Bartlett and his brother, Dr. M. S. Bartlett, organized the Doc and Buzz foundation in 1964 for the purpose of presenting scholarships to deserving students. The most sentimental thrust of the foundation was the support of the OU mascot.
Well, I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, and even though I prefer our mascot, a Longhorn analogy wasn't as apropos as a Sooner one.
Thanks for getting this thread back on track with your very first post. Welcome aboard -- to whichever bandwagon you choose. I cannot see hoq a feigned or actual back injury can help Redick in the draft. We don't need any head cases or any more bad backs on the Rockets. Let's examine the scenario for the moment that he is indeed the choice of the Rockets. On draft day many of the fans who would have been happy with his selection now will groan. That can't help ticket sales or generate excitement for the coming season because of the uncertainty. Look at the uncertainty McGrady's back is generating.
Yeah, I got the joke. I then tried to follow it with a much lamer joke. That was a mistake. However, I went through the Blake and Schnellenberger years. I'm no bandwagon fan. I'm currently a Rockets fan and have been since 1996, so that should say something. OK, I apologize for hijacking the thread. Let's get this back on track... Redick injured his back, that sucks. If there is any truth to the 4 month recovery time, I don't know if I would take Redick at #8.
Per word on the street you mean. Thats what they're saying, so thats what we're gonna go on here? word on the street usually means word on bullsh*t alley. If Redick was having surgery on his back we would of heard about it from a credible news source by now.
they're making strongs claims on redick failing his physical exam at the orlando workouts though. maybe the poster known as mcgrady might know more regarding that site?
here's my theory on whats going on: We have a deal with the Hornets where they get our 8th pick so they can draft Shelden Williams and we get their picks at 12 and 15. The Rockets want Reddick, Reddick wants the Rockets. but there's a problem. Orlando, who picks one pick before the 12th pick, has Shelden as the first player on their charts(who will be gone by their pick) and Redick right below him. So maybe the Rockets say hey Redick you're our pick at 12 but that's if your still there after Orlando's pick, and Redick then thinks to himself that he will do what he has to do to change their minds about him.
Redicks' back problem might be legit: http://insider.espn.go.com/espn/blo...er.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?name=ford_chad
