I had forgotten that Ainge had a stint with the Blue Jays, didn't he play second base and actually play in a major league game? MJ didn't even do that. Ainge did look slow on the hardcourt though and like you said he was not an "athlete" as defined now. JJ would be a better fit with Boston than the Rox, they have a ton of athletes on that squad but I don't see Ainge taking Redick, they need another big man with a post game that can play defense than a SG.
I had no idea that he played baseball for a while before the NBA. Looks like he played in a fair number of games. http://www.baseball-reference.com/a/aingeda01.shtml

whoa whoa, this isn't about ainge...but come on, he wasn't really "slow" playing hoops until his later years. He wasn't a speed demon, but he was definitely a relatively quick guy. haha, at least on the offensive end when he seemed to care a little more
I give Ainge all the slack in the world. One time he went coast to coast against Notre Dame in the NCAA tournament and tossed up a scoop shot at the buzzer to win the game. For me, it was a grand moment in college basketball.
My guess is it's the Rockets. Perhaps the Rockets were high on Shelden but since he's going top 5 they picked Hayes option and with second choice Redick? The latest Redick scandal shouldn't be a problem considering Hayes's problems with the law.
Looks like Redick cancelled out of Orlando because of a back injury, from Draftexpress and that infamously long Redick thread in the GARM.
...I think the guarantee came from Boston. Ainge told JJ to go out and get a DWI before the draft, as a public relations move so the citizens of that fair beer guzzling city can relate to him and accept him as their next hero. After all, a DWI is just a common occurance in Boston. Their senators and congressmen frequently crash their cars off bridges and drown their mistresses while they flee the seen, or crash in to concrete barriers while going to an alleged congressional vote at 3:00 am, then fleeing the seen of the accident, while denying they were drunk or on anti-depressants or both, only 30 days later to check themselves in to rehab. Yes, JJ fits in nicely at the #7 pick.
... and NO, I am not bitter over the 2 losses to the Celtics in the finals! I have completely forgotten about that!
