i hate redd's game. one dimensional ball hog that can be streaky at times. i would rather prefer maggette/artest/miller/jefferson and even jr smith (maybe homer side talking because he's like my 3rd fav player, but I really think he can be a big time scorer in this league.
seriously, have you watched michael redd play more than twice in your life? I don't understand how you can dump all over michael redd and then make a plug for JR Smith??? JR Smith is a crackhead's ricky davis. Michael Redd would fit in fine on a winning team with players that get him plenty of open looks.
no no no no no no no no no no no no no no we want Mike Miller we want Mike Miller we want Mike Miller we want Mike Miller we want Mike Miller we want Mike Miller we want Mike Miller we want Mike Miller we want Mike Miller
Trade boys out of closet again... Firstly, let me say this it's wrong to judge our team solely on playoff performance. Darryl Morey hear me if you can, do not blow up this team and its nucleus. For those with very short memory, it took some time for this team to gell together. After we got going we destroyed the media darlings the Hornets on their home turf. With Landry playing like a beast we won twelve straight games with Yao and 22 without Yao. Sometimes I sit down and read some of the comments on this board, I can't stop myself from likening some fans in here with kids playing fantasy basketball whereby whoever has more all star calibre players in his team wins. Fellas the Lakers won NBA championships with a line up of Fisher, Kobe, Foxy, Grant and Shaq. Guess what happened Karl Molone and Gary Payton no championship. Everyone keeps bringing up the analogy of Celtics' "big three". Remember they haven't won anything just yet, and they struggled to beat the weak Hawks team. I won't touch the starting line up of Yao, Scola, Battier, Tmac, Rafer. I will get a bigger guard/ wing player who can score not at the expense of any starter or Chuck yes you heard me right, or Landry. I will go to the all star break with this group, if it won't work out (if we stay health it will work out) I will bring a big name player from a sorry lottery bound team
I think that if the Rockets do make a play for Redd, it has to be at the end of the summer, in order to fully gauge what they can get for Battier and Jackson. If Memphis backs off on their offer for Miller(Scola) and the Kings are done with Artest (or Clippers with Maggette), then the Rockets should trade Battier + '09 1st/ Jackson + Head + Brooks for any combo of 2 of those players. If those teams don't bite, then a deal for Redd, in my opinion, would be necessary to catapult the Rockets into the upper-echelon of the league, which is why we traded for McGrady in the first place. Sign Anthony Johnson for the Vet Min. With the MLE, sign Ricky Davis and Chris Duhon(or Miles). A team of C-Yao/Mutombo/Woods PF- Scola/Landry/Hayes SF- (Artest)/(Maggette)/Novak SG- McGrady/(Davis)/Francis PG- Alston/(Duhon)/(Johnson) or C- Yao/Mutombo/Woods PF- Scola/Landry/Hayes SF- McGrady/Davis/Novak SG- Redd/Head/Miles PG- Alston/Brooks/Johnson is a 60 win team on the West.
I don't see much room for Ricky Davis with either Artest/Maggette or Redd. I also would like to see another 5 along with Yao/Deke instead of Woods. Even obtaining part of this is going to be very hard, and I'm aware that you know this.
Wow, so many r****ds posting that want Redd without even THINKING. I'll tell you why Morey and Adelman won't do it: 1) With Yao, TMac, and Rafer on the floor, how is Redd going to get his shots? Rockets won't pay 16 million for a guy that won't get his share of shots because Yao, TMac, and Rafer will be taking them. 2) Redd has no defense. If you follow Bucks games, you will know his defense is sub-standard. Now the Rockets are paying 16 million for somebody that won't get his shots and doesn't play defense. 3) Redd isn't a team player, and doesn't move the ball. Adelman wouldn't touch him with a 10 foot pole because Redd won't play motion offense, that demands alot of passes. Again, for all you that don't think, use your brain cells and try to guess why Popovich starts Bruce Bowen over Ginboblli despite the fact that Ginboblli is far superior offensively. When you have figured that out, you will start to understand why neither Morey nor Adelman will make that trade and this trade scenario will become another Clutch fan conjecture in the history books.
Point 2 is correct,Point 3 is partially correct because he isn't a ball mover, but Tracy is going to partially compensate for that with his passing. I disagree with Point 1,Redd is going to get a lot of open looks and can make them. Rafer's shots are going to go down,he will be required to pass more and try to penetrate as well as he can along with playing defense. We will need another defender to compensate for Battier's loss which has been mentioned previously. I don't think Morey is going to do it anyway even if the Bucks want to go for Battier,Jackson,a 1st round pick or fillers but all the points that you have brought up have already been discussed in this thread.
'r****ds' is a little harsh, don't you think? Don't dismiss this trade because of Redd's less-than-gaudy defense and passing. Peja was a perfect fit in Adelman's system, so don't make us believe that Adelamn wouldn't coach him. Secondly, who in Milwaukee would he even pass to. Thirdly, as painfully apparent against Utah, the Rockets need a third scorer. If all it takes is Battier and expirings to get our 'Big 3,' our chance at a title, then as a GM, an organization, you HAVE to take the chance. The Rockets are a great defensive TEAM, with our without Battier, and Redd's job will be to shoot. As shown before, his shooting percentages would be a great addition to a mediocre shooting team.
1) In what world does Rafer Alston deserves more shots than Micheal Redd??? The last thing anyone should be thinking about is the shot attempts of role players 2) Poor individual defense can be hidden easily over the course of an 82 game season if the team has strong defensive principles...see Ray Allen in boston. 3) This an unknown. I wish people would stop putting Aldeman in box. This isn't college....you dont recruit players to play in a system. You coach to your talent. We hve no idea how mac and yao would play next to redd but we do know how they look playing with battier, very simular to playing with David Wesley and Jim Jackson....lukewarm results Lastly, Ginobili coming off the bench has nothing to do with Bruce Bowen. Pop uses Ginobili off the bench cause a) Their bench production is weak without him. Guys like Finely and Barry get off to slow starts so Pop puts Finely in the starting 5 to get him going....b) he's been coming off the bench his whole career and isnt affected by the switch. If he played noticably better as a starter he'd stay there.
If this team is getting another All-Star this off-season, it would most likely be Baron Davis. http://www.mercurynews.com/sports/ci_9216433?nclick_check=1 If Davis wants that $17 million dollar contract, it will have to be done through a sign and trade because most teams are over the cap and stuck with the MLE. Maybe Davis will take a small paycut to play next to Mac and Yao. Davis for SnT Landry, Battier, and Jackson? Make it happen Morey!
I love redd, but his contract makes me cringe. I'd rather take Miller if we could get him. I mean, I don't think its a bad trade, but I think that we should look at other options 1st. If we need someone that can simply shoot why not shoot for ben gordan for head/jackson/2nd pick? Dude can straight up rain treys and I don't think he would mind coming off the bench behind tmac and shane.
Ben Gordon can also get to the line, finish and make FT's as well as shoot. He is short and can't defend but he would be a very good 6th man. He also would be cheaper than Redd as you have pointed out but he still would be very hard to obtain. Head,Jackson and a 2nd round pick would be unacceptable to the Bulls. I feel you are severely underestimating his trading value despite the Bulls poor record this season. I hope you won't mind my comments, they are not personally directed at you.
Holy hell...I'd give Davis that contract. 5 years at 10MM per? GEEZ, SNT Rafer(pg behind ellis who will start), Hayes(capable rebounder that plays PF instead of some bullsht hybrid like Harrington) and Head(expiring contract) and you got yourselves a deal right there! Or hell, substitute head and hayes for bjx. We'd still get baron, sf3 and ab. Oh man...who cares bout michael redd!
Article from Milwaukee Journal Sentinel http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=752466 I highlighted the key part. Apparently, there are some people on here who think Battier has more value then Redd. It's hard to believe the Bucks would think that way. That said, not proposing any specific trades or anything, just pointing out Bucks management thought process at this time.
So they are willing to trade a all-star for bruce bowen 2.0? And we can move up the draft? I mean we rob them so hard this will make the memphis trade looking good.
They are most probably unlikely to do either. BUT, if you also take a Bobby Simmons or Gadzuric off their hands, assuming we have neough contracts to send back in return, they might do that, for sure.
