To be fair, they were cheering louder than LAST year's TC crowd. Those weren't the "Red Rowdies," they were the first 500 people to purchase season tickets after they announced the promotion. They got a trip to Miami for the game. Props to them for being so loud in Miami last night. They might not be "official Red Rowdies," but as far as I am concerned, they have an honorary membership.
Those Red Rowdies sounded great last night!! Kidding... Seriously, did watching the game last night remind anyone else of when we swept the first 2 games on the road against the spurs in 95 and there were about 1,000 Rocket fans chanting "let's go, Rockets" at the end of the game after the spur fans hit the exits?
I don't think it was the Rowdies per se, but I think all the season ticket holders were offered a travel package to Miami and I believe about 500 of them took advantage. There might have been some red rowdies there though. That video was GREAT !!!! I think everyone can feel a special season coming on.... HOUSTON...ROCKETS !!! DD
Dave2000 that was beautiful... i almost shed a tear. Its good to see the city getting behind the rockets again. I have a very good feeling about this season.
Thats what Im talking about...the rockets need to take busses to dalls and san antonio and do the same thing.
Dear Comissioner Stern: These 'Red Rowdies', the elite fans of the Houston Rockets, are becoming an epidemic! They are loud, enthusiastic, and disruptive to classy behavior! Now they are being seen in the crowds of home teams such as the Miami Heat when the Rockets are playing at their venues, spewing their optimistic filth with every Yao score or McGrady pass! Please take action immediately. Sincerely, UNSTHB (Uptight NBA Season Ticket Holders Brigade) & Ushers Union
I'm sure the Rockets are happy with how that promotion worked out. Are the Heat? Would they be inclined to do something like that again? Did they even have anything to do with it, or did the Rockets just buy a big block of tickets from their box office?
I look forward to watching you guys show on Tuesday in TC. I'd like to see what these ESPN b****es say if we beat Spurs tomorrow.
I'm certain they were probably aware of it but didn't help (or hinder) in the matter. Not sure if they'll let it happen again.
Just home, very tired, gotta sleep, post more later maybe tomorrow. Met Dave2000 on the flight home - sat next to him. He is exactly right. Most awesome experience of my life. Pre game rally at hotel - two Power Dancers, photos coming later - pls be patient. They put 250 at each end of the upper upper arena - I was in the last last row. We really rattled the Heat fans in our sections. Halftime with the rapper by the food concessions was wild - more later. One guy said he saw Riley look up at the end closest to his bench and just shake his head at the Rockets fans late in the game. Home court advantage - GONE! Dave2000's video of the post game march downstairs is the real deal - we also sang Yao Ming song and a couple of Chinese Miami fans started hanging chinese & english posters over the rails and yelling with us. You never saw fans as hangdog as the Heat fans who had to endure our long march downstairs. And they talked such trash all day long around Miami and at the hotel and at the game thru the half. Post game rally with Bill and Matt and Les, and most of the players, no Gundy. Shane and others expressed very clearly how much it meant to them that we were there and wished we could be at more road games in the future.... The cameraderie built with other fans is priceless. I told many people about clutchfans - surprised Dave2000 was the only other poster I met. So we might be getting some new recruits. I hope Helen from Sugarland posts - long time attender since her boys were little - they are grown now - knows her basketball. Clutch is a scream - had fun fun fun with him. I won't tell on you Clutch (the mascot)! The Rockets Sales people who put this on are just awesome people - fun, love the Rockets, want to do more, want to help build support for the team. Gotta sleep. Biz appt. tonight. Later. Love to all who love the Rockets.
I just got back from Miami Baby!!!! Man, we had a blast. We drove the Miami fans nuts. Everyone was screaming their asses off. I will post pics later. Before the game we had a pep rally at the hotel with Clyde, Bullard, Bill Worrell, and Les. At the game, we were loud as hell. I can't even speak today. After the game we all walked down from the upper deck to the main concourse. Dave2000's video is awesome. We were loud! I have some vids and pics too, which I will post later.
I swear to God. I love all of you people. That video put a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye. I was watching the game at my boyfriend's last night, and I seriously thought I was just hearing things when the Rocks fans started chanting, so I didn't say anything. It really was the Houston fans though! That is such an awesome promotion and I'm glad you guys had fun and were rep'sentin'! GO ROCKETS!!!
Awesome stuff, richi et al. Seeing the above statement of yours, I get the impression that the Rockets Sales people also do road game tickets sale. Am I right? If so, I wonder if I can get any good deal through them on the tickets for the Rockets @ Indiana game, and possibly on Rockets @ Cleveland too.
Im in Ft. lauderdale ( 30 min from american airlines arena) went to the game..wore my tmac jersey..but wasnt rowdy
They seemed real interested in doing some more road trips - fans pay their own way - so call the tick office and talk to the beautiful people there so they can go to their bosses and make it happen! Not sure if they can get cheaper ticks for every city - IF IT HAPPENS - they might need to focus on one or two at first - of course unless fan interest overwhelms them. Perhaps someone private, hmmmmm, could arrange a few road trips and buy tickets at a discount. I've got some office staff with my biz who need something to do - and if we could make a reasonable $ return - my office could be the focus on taking reservations for ticks, helping with air or bus arrangements, arranging a central hotel. One of my workers just got done doing something similar for her church and she has done some events off & on for 25 years. I will talk to Rockets office cause they may or may not want in or want out of more trips. I will get back to you and start a thread and post info whether it is Rockets doing it or if my office will be the contact point. If my office is central then I would see us taking emails and phone up to a certain date before the game - 30 days? Then I would post if there is enough interest to make it work. Then we would either go or no go depending on # of people interested. Dallas and SA seem like naturals for bus trips. NO would have been good as well.
hmm, wonder if yall caught my thread http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=120197 posted that vid and alot of pics there, great stuff was wondering why i haven't got a reply in that thread in awhile
