I hear ya man, we are great at home when it's a rivalry team so I think we could put up a good fight against UT. It's up to if our defense decides they want to come play..the sky is the limit
Look, I am a huge Tech fan, but this team has shown me NOTHING this year. And I'm pissed as hell. I would drop us to #20 right now. We still have a lot to prove. Regardless, if we win out, we will get the respect for it. But we have looked piss poor so far.

#1 in the Coaches Poll and the AP Poll!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/football/usatpoll.htm no link for the AP poll (just heard it on the radio)
I wouldn't go that far. Tech should probably be in the top 10 based on their record even if they aren't one of the 10 best teams. After slapping the Aggies next week, you have 4 games in a row that will decide your season. I think it's quite possible you lose all 4 but let's see. A 10-2 season would be something to be proud of. As yesterday proved, UT has too much in the trenches for Tech. The only way Tech could win or keep it close is for UT to sleepwalk through the game. In the 4th quarter, UT dominated the line of scrimmage against OU's vaunted athletes. The way they won the game was impressive.
The Cat, http://www.usatoday.com/sports/sagarin/fbt08.htm shows the USC SOS at 3 with Ohio State, Oregon, and Oregon State in the top 25. Not that computer polls are 100%, but just saying USC has a free pass and has only played one team is ridiculous. Is the PAC 10 the 5th strongest conference, yes.
Maybe, but you guys can beat Texas this year in Lubbock. Everybody says Tech is a fraud and maybe they are, but they always come to play in Lubbock vs Texas. That game is going to be crazy.
Herbstreit: Ohhhh that's pretty. That is nice. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ppv0UJDizCk&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ppv0UJDizCk&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="375" height="300"></embed></object>
It's one computer poll, and it's halfway through the season. The conversation is inherently centered around the context of the full season and the decision to be made at the end of the season. The Big 12 teams and SEC teams will all play numerous ranked opponents for the remainder of the season in conference play. USC will play none. By the end of the season, the difference will be overwhelming.
This is not a good year to be ranked 1. Nobody seems to want to hold onto that spot. Being ranked #1 seems to be the new SI cover jinx.
Just got back from Dallas. Holy crap what an atmosphere to be in. Best sporting event I've been to. It's 6:44 and OU still sucks!!!! #1
I'd be shocked if UT runs the table. I think they're more likely to lose 2 games than none. Their schedule is brutal - Mizzou, OkSt, @Kansas, @Tech, and regardless of how bad A&M is, that game is always a dogfight.
USC is the top "1 loss team" in an average of the top computer polls and human rankings. Oklahoma is pretty close. Halfway is a good chunk of the season. USC has such a good SOS now, from a calculation and not a knee jerk all PAC 10 teams have a weak schedule bias, that it will still probably have a better calculated SOS than most Top Ten teams at the end of the season. Not all SEC teams will play numerous ranked opponents. A quick look...Alabama only has one left, but it does have the advantage of the SEC championshio game. I would not say 2 is numerous. USC still has 1 ranked team left. My guess is that if USC and Ohio State both do well the rest of the season, USC will look very good in the computer polls.
