I don't live in or anywhere near Sydney, but i'm actually moving there in December!! Hope they get all their natural disasters out of their system before I hit the scene.
I thought of that, too. (an aside, Catherine Mary Stewart still looks good http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0829252/)
I recently saw Chopper for the first time, Spoiler and after realizing it was based on a real person who became something of an Australian celebrity, Spoiler now anytime I read the Australian commenters I can't help reading them in his voice. I guess we Americans liked Dillinger, but come to think of it, I usually associate Australia with Mel Gibson, Mel Gibson's crazy racist father, and Lleyton Hewitt. So basically, my uninformed/decidedly incorrect view of Australia (I know, I know, you also have Abbie Cornish, Radha Mitchell and a cool opera house...) is that of an island full of sociopathic monsters. I doubt Andersen's signing will create quite the influx of Australian posters as Yao's coMing did with the Chinese. But as part of an outreach to those Australians already here, I have a question of proper etiquette for my Australian brothers: if I ever run into new Rocket David Andersen when I'm out buying groceries, I will of course know better than to ask for an autograph. But, my question: will he still stab me in the jugular if I make direct eye contact / take the last loaf of wheat bread from the shelves, or am I better off turning around and immediately fleeing in the opposite direction? Biblically epic dust storms aside, I still want to visit your beautiful land someday...
This is incredible. On 9/11 MSNBC was replaying the news coverage of the attacks and one of the reporters described the inside of the dust and debris as "pitch black". I found that really hard to imagine, but this video pretty much represents the same situation and it is definitely dark as hell in there. Crazy.
Dude, thats crazy, i didn't know that they were dust storms that freaking huge in Australia!!!! -rocketblaze
I live in Sydney and it was very strange. No warning of it at all. I slept through the worst of it (Happened earlier in the morning) but when I got up I was told about it, went out side and dust covered everything. It was red over everything and the sky was very dark still. A few hours later the skies were blue again but even as you went driving down the road you could see it gathering in the gutters. Even now, your go driving and your car ends up dusty. I cant remember anything like it in all my life living in Sydney.
