It is pretty funny that a big group of folks around here were convinced that it was going to take decades to get another blue chip lottery pick and it happened less than 6 months later.

End of the rebuild is when the bbs starts talking about players like DMo being the X-factor and trades like Capela for Nerlens Noel being the key to a championship

Wouldn't mind another top 4 pick next year. I think we will contend in 2 years at the earliest if Green, Sengun and KPJ pans out.

I just realized that this will be the first rebuild in CF history without basketballholic/jopat and his insider knowledge sullying our board.

I guess it depends on what you’re calling a rebuild. I mean, fairly short time from horrific disaster to feeling like there’s some hope for the future? Sure.
As hard as the Rockets made it look to obtain good, young talent for a decade… the influx of good, young talent has been mana from heaven. Would not consider the rebuild complete though. Even with said influx, there’s still development and hopefully adding more youthful talent (and then developing). There’s still a cap problem looming. There’s the question of who gets paid after Wall? Are there enough goods to bring in a star or retain one?
One off-season, even a slam dunk off-season does not a rebuild make. Very happy about the dunk though. 2-3 more successful seasons from the “GM perspective” will have us as a feared team once again.

I like the optimism op. There are so many naysayers on this board. We should have taken Mobley or Suggs, Cade is better than Green, Stone sux as a GM, Stone did “ok” in the draft but we still need to tank, we won’t win with Tilman as the owner, blah blah fkn blah blah.

I’m sooo hehpee, Ima sit back and enjoy the ride

It's all about development now and having tons of fun.
    (insert Gordon face)
A top 6 player falls to us with the 10th-13th pick in next year's draft. Miami will give us their 17th pick.

For me, the line drawn in the sand on when a team officially exits rebuild move is either win 50 games in an 82 game season or advance past the 1st round in the playoffs. Winning 50 games (or about 60%) would put your team around the 4th or 5th seed in a typical year, that puts you right in the middle of things--your team is too good to just scratch and claw for a lower seed and you are probably one or two moves away from getting to the top. Advancing past the 1st round in today's NBA where it's a best-of-7 series involves more talent, skill, chemistry, etc than sheer luck.

21 and 23 year old leading teams to contending status is VERY rare. It's most likely going to be more than 2 years even if they all pan out.

I'll just say this: last year there was a lot of excitement and clinging to hope that Porter would be the next Harden. Nowadays with the Summer League, Porter is sort of forgotten (as is Wood).

It's a very intriguing roster. In the end there is some real talent highlighted with Green and Sengun — both could have just as easily been scooped up by other teams.

Would be a very different story if the Rockets were sitting here today with Christopher to go along with Porter. Stone and the Rockets did a marvelous job with what appears to be a flash rebuild.

No question it took a lot of luck after dumping Harden then salvaging value for Oladipo. But that also took balls to be risky and pivot in a flash — and without taking on too many dead weight pieces so that these young guys can flourish.

(Before anyone complains about Wall, understand the Rockets wouldn't be in the position today without him, and his contract is a fair trade off for a team that's rebuilding.)

And lastly what I do hope is with this enthusiasm it puts an end to the b****ing about how Fertitta is "the worst owner in sports" and "ruined" the franchise. Like him or not, he hired competent people to get the team in a position where the future has what looks to be bright and exciting -- and at worst flexible enough to make moves to get the team winning big sooner than later.

Will be fun to see how this rebuild goes versus the Grizzlies record rebuild (which is still in progress).

Optimism is nice but just don't let expectations ruin your viewing experience this coming season. We'll probably still lose a lot of games but I'll be watching every single one and having a lot of fun along the ride. Hope everyone else does the same. Hope the board doesn't get bombarded with complaints when our young guys mess up because they obviously will. The burden of expectation can ruin the experience. Jalen is great but he's no Luka or LeBron and neither of those guys won much their first years. Enjoy the ride no matter how far we are from the destination.

Keep in mind there was a 48% chance this off-season would be a near disaster with no top 4 pick(though it would have been slightly salvaged with Sengun). Even larger percent chance that we would have a 3rd or 4th pick than 2nd which means no Green and having Mobley who might turn out to be a valuable piece to a contender but I don't see him as a franchise level centerpiece who's a potential 1A on a contender.

    We lucked into getting Green.

The best thing about this is that I think they will be fun to watch in the meantime. I mean they are all still teenagers I dont expect the playoffs for a couple of years but some great fast breaks dunks and AL P passes will entertain me for the next few years.

I'm remaining cautiously optimistic, these kids we drafted are all 19 right? Expect some serious growing pains but at least the franchise has recovered from rock bottom and began to build a foundation.

Yup it's scary because we haven't yet experienced a "bad" game or a bad week or a bad month for Green or Sengun. I'm wondering how Clutchfans will take it because it's bound to happen regardless of how talented these new kids are

No it doesn’t. 3-4 years was a more realistic window not decades.

I am aware of the odds and how lucky we got. Doesn’t make it any less funny how wrong the doom and gloom folks were in terms of how long it would take us to get a primo pick.

all hope was lost when the westbrook trade happened, that completely shut the door on contending and to me started the rebuild

    10. Caleb Houstan SF– Michigan (Canada) – HT: 6-8 – WT: 190 – WING: NA – Fr – A smooth, big wing with a great looking 3pt shot. Is becoming a more versatile scorer and is lethal from downtown.

    17. Kennedy Chandler PG – Tennessee – HT: 6-1 – WT: 165 – WING: NA – Fr – A bit undersized but plays bigger than his size and has big time athleticism. A gamer and a winner.
