I just think the fact that it is the Super Bowl, which is pretty much a celebration of testosterone and alcohol fueled sex and violence, especially with halftime show by MTV, is a decent enough heads-up.
fair enough. i disagree. i take my sons to football games. i watch football games regularly. i don't recall seeing the grind, domination themes and ripped off clothes before. in all truth, this isn't a huge deal to me. ultimately, my son will see far worse. i do think some sense of standards from the FCC is a good thing. i know what i'm gonna get for sure on other networks. i've seen super bowl halftime shows over and over and over again through the years. had no idea to expect this. maybe that makes me stupid or naive.
What about the Miller lite commercial with the two chicks with huge bombs rippng their clothes off in the fountain? Sh-t I'd like to see that again...
Speaking of parents complaining about the "Bumping and Grinding" dancing, is it a problem, or just another case of white America freaking out about "urban" dancing? Is it just how people dance these days? Is it here to stay or is it a fad?
The simplest solution, to avoid all of this in the future, is to never let MTV produce a damn Super Bowl halftime show ever again!!! Then maybe we could finally get some decent talent to entertain us during Super Bowl halftime!
do we really wanna go down this road?? yeah..i think clearly my problem, as evidenced in this thread, is i'm a blatant racist. how loaded is the word, "urban", these days!!?? there's a topic for ya.
Well, if you combine the last part of your moniker with the last part of Sam's, what to you get? How's that for irony?
You're not a racist, just a boobist. I don't care for that style of dancing myself either, it's not the style of my generation. I would feel like a dork trying to do that stuff. But if we were Generation Y, would we see things differently? You do see crazy freak dancing in the Caribbean, Brazil, etc. I think it's all cultural. (or is it EVIL!!!) I really think have we just forgotten the valuable lesson that the movie Footloose once taught us all.
It's just a different culture, Max. And, as I said, I was astonished, but only because it was unexpected. Kind of like the awful halftime entertainment at the Super Bowl. The Dutch, as a group, are just more liberal socially than a lot of cultures. Most of their conservatives couldn't find a spot in our Republican Party. I admit some of that sort of thing can take getting used to if you're not around a culture like that often, but I loved it. I think you might prefer Spain, which is more conservative, although I think the Costa del Sol has nude beaches as well.
I agree with the fine. You can talk all day about whether we should ban that sort of thing or not. But, it's simple: there's a rule against it and they broke the rule. They knew the rule, they should be fined. Can we still agree on the rule of law here?
for the record. . .the child locks WOULD NOT HAVE BLOCKED it because the superbowl was not rated NC-17 Rocket River
I too would like to voice my endorsement of boobs. Boobs are awesome. Small boobs and large boobs, brown boobs and pink boobs. Boobs in a bra, and boobs without. Round bouncy boobs and svelte firm boobs. All awesome. I am in favor of boobs, and would like to offer my full support, or a wine glass if the circumstances demand. Um...what thread is this again?
So it comes down to a nipple. It's all right as long as there's no nipple, once the sight of that sinister gateway to corruption via mammary is unleashed, the timbre of the message changes dramatically, to a level that civilized persons cannot bear. Come on.
