Both offensively and defensively, it's just not feasible.

We'd practically be the Detroit Pistons. Look how awesome it's working for them.

Sure, we have more talent than the Pistons, but they aren't a bunch of scrubs, and their 3 big man lineups are terrible.

Honestly I've been wondering when we play the clippers why don't we put howard on Blake griffen and omer asik on deandre Jordan. Terrance jones can't guard bigger more elite PFs. He's shown it through the season.

Did you guys watch Asik play all last season? How many times do you have to see Asik defending guys out in space including Kevin Love clear out at the 3-point line before you quit speaking falsely about his ability to defend in space?

    Once again, here's the videos.

Give it up guys. Asik can defend power forwards great.

I think TT will be huge for us in the playoffs. I won't be surprised if McHale goes to it, once Howard is back, for the last few games.

It's clear that McHale doesn't trust either Dmo or Jones in the last few moments of close games, so it obvious that we will either have to go small or big. Unless Lin is having a bad game, provided Beverley is healthy, we will likely close with a Bev, Lin, Harden, Parsons, Howard lineup in most games. But if we really need a stop, I would love to use a Bev, Harden, Parsons, Howard, Asik lineup.

The Rockets are 9-11 against our potential playoff opponents when Jones and Howard start together. And that's throwing in the lop-sided Spurs games early when they were dinged and also the Memphis games when Gasol was out.

Asik is such a sound defender. He isn't going to wow many with his athletic abilities or numbers like many of the centers today but wow, the way he moves on defense and uses his space, length, and brains is impressive.

Doubt it. Davis' defensive future is probably as a "Dwight/Hakeem-esqe" under-sized center. Just needs to continue to add more weight.

I think this points to what I am trying to say now. We as fans think Asik is only capable of what we've seen early this year. The Asik I'm seeing right NOW is different. It could be his minutes increase but I don't think we can reference any early season issues with TT because Asik was apparantly injured and/or pissed off. That led to his lack of motion and deficit. To answer the question..I think Asik needs to go out and defense the PF.. he uses his height reach well. Howard needs to stay with his man and do what he does.

Ok..so against the elite teams of Clips, Thunder we haven't exactly done well so I say a little tweaking is in order..
I guess I'm a little high on Asik right now but I want to see THIS Asik with Dwight Howard.
I think it could be different..

We need to recognize the first 8 games for what they were. A very half-hearted lackadasical attempt by both players (asik/Dwight) and coaching (McHale) to make the Twin Towers work. And we were still 5-3 just jacking around with it....while jacking away 2 games to the Clippers because we tried to play Asik on DeAndre and Dwight on Blake and then jack-farting away a game to the Lakers because Dwight shot 30% from the FT line on a ton of free throws.

It didn't work early because Asik (and to a lesser degree Dwight) didn't want it to work and Mchale (and to a lesser degree Harden and Parsons) didn't put his foot down and make it work.

Dwight, Asik AND Jones? All three at the same time? Is that a joke?

I do think that there are certain teams where Asik and Dwight could play 10-15 minutes a game together, there is no way that you could play Jones at the same time. There would be zero spacing on offense, our perimeter defense would be too slow. Look at Detroit from this past year.

Well, you can certainly see why McHale wanted the TT experiment to work. Asik is just too good to play 12 minutes per game. One thing for sure should happen, if Howard is having an off night, then McHale shouldn't hesitate to get Asik in the game.

Dwight really should yield to Omer on the defensive side of the ball when they are in there together. Let Asik play up high and take the best opponent's big and let Omer control the defensive glass. On the offensive end, Omer should stay out high, pass the ball and let Dwight control the low blocks and the offensive glass. Omer should be the big getting back in transition defense while Dwight commits all-out to getting more offensive rebounds.

They've only got to make it work for about 12-14 minutes a game most of the time.

Hell nah, Davis is maybe a year removed from becoming one of the best bigs in the game. You don't want to make an already tough division even tougher. Send Asik as far away as you can, because I can tell you now, he will kill the Rockets whenever we faces off against them.

would be a great test case with Lopez being such a civ on the offensive end.

just tell Asik to park himself out on the arch and set picks so there are no spacing issues.

The TT has nothing to do with Asik. Its about what lineups best suite the best players on the court.... Harden, and Howard. Asik and what he brings is not good for those two on both ends of the court.

Despite how well Asik is playing he is still Asik. He's not going to all the sudden morph into Toni Kukoc, or Brad Miller and be able to move outside the paint to create space. He's going to continue to bring his man with him when he stays in the paint and his man comes to help when either Dwight posts up or Harden/Lin drive towards the bucket.

Im as excited as anyone that the Rockets are getting such great production out of Omer, but I think alot of folks here need to go back and watch the first 5 or 6 games the Rockets experimented with the TT and pay attention to the details.

You were told it wouldn't work during preseason. You saw it didn't work at the beginning of the season. And now you suggest using it going into the playoffs. At what point does this become insanity?

Here and there, as needed, depending on matchups. Nothing more.

I think Asik and Howard would fight too much and fumble away rebounds. It's easier one or the other in the game at a time.

    For certain situations.
