They can easily disable those buttons or lock the seats if they really intend the seats to never recline
I've flown hundreds of thousands of miles. Sometimes I recline most, if not all, of the way back. Sometimes just a bit, sometimes never. While understanding that it may be an inconvenience for the person behind me, I never thought I was being an ahole for doing so. Nor, do I think the person in front of me is one. Also, as soon as we land and the seatbelt sign goes off, I am up. I want to stretch out and I feel I owe it the guy in the middle to also get up. Depending on the plane he may have to hunch over, but at least he can stand.
I rarely recline. That said, I hate passive aggressive people who kick the table over and over to bother you. We can have open communication. If you are bothered, say something don’t try to passively protest me. Even though I don’t really recline I don’t have a problem with the person in front of me reclining. You guys act like it drops into your lap.
Like others here, I recline and expect the person in front of me to recline. I didn't know this was a thing. When I do recline though, I do it very slowly. Gives the person behind me a chance to adjust so I don't crush anyone's knees. I also board last, rarely have a carry-on, don't constantly walk up and down the isle for the entire flight, control my children and don't stand up right when the plane lands. I think I'm a pretty courteous flyer!
I don’t think it makes sense really. If it’s a long flight I stand up as soon as possible because I’m tired of sitting not because I’m in a rush to get off the plane. If you have carry on and on a full flight you rush to get to your seats because there won’t be enough space.
I get that, but if you're in the window or middle seat, you are probably having to hunch over when you stand because of the overhead compartment and that's less comfortable than staying seated for me.
If I am in the middle or window seat i still like to get up, even if I generally have to hunch over.. Never occurred to me that any of this stuff was controversial.
Yeah, there are no right answers. It's just uncomfortable for everyone, whether people are reclining 2˚ or not.
It says a lot about the experience of flying that this is even a topic. We should have been born sardines.
Recline on long flights that allow for sleep time. Perhaps wait somewhat into the flight when the lights go down. Otherwise, sit your ass up like an adult.
If you have TV’s on the seat headrests on the flight it’s a no-no to not recline because you are obviously telling the person behind you that your entertainment on the flight is less important than me being 1% more comfortable. Not to mention the personal space thing. Get a neck pillow. Don’t recline. It’s rude.
Every plane I've been on with screens on the back can be somewhat adjusted so it doesn't matter if the person reclines. Never been an issue for us while watching.
Really??... the ones on AA flights adjust? Game changer. I can’t tell you how many times I got the recline and my blood boils. I’ll look into it Tomm on my flight. Thanks for the heads up.
