Seriously...one thing is for sure; tha man can distribute the ball and has awesome handels. Something like what Sam Cassell brought to the rockets and you know that was invaluable
Well I'm impressed. How many athletes read books? I thought they just tag hos and play x-box all day.
Yeah, I'm sure Skip pulled that out of his ear without hearing it from Van Gundy first. Is this not what Van Gundy said all last year, the opportunity break, and always waving everybody to run and hustle the pace up?
Actually what Skip was saying was that he was going to be so integrated with the other 11 that you wouldn't even notice there were 12.
Great read, I'm getting more and more excited about this trade as time goes on, I think him and the Rockets are gonna have a big season.
Not trying to be offensive but you are not watching closely enough. The Yao-JVG-TMac Rockets have been an excellent transition team from Day 1. Or perhaps you've forgotten VG flailing his arms on the sidelines urging Francis to push tempo? Van Gundy's set offense is long with multiple options and weakside screens. If the Rockets don't get into the offense early, it loses much of its effectiveness. The Rockets won't rival the Show Time Lakers but they force tempo on every change of possession. And they do it quite well.
Remember, Yao doesn't count... Skip hates him. *EDIT* : Damn you Cohen, damn you to MoochieAsYourPointGuardForLife.
Skip no pass to Yao? Anyways, good find, I enjoyed reading that, it gives me more insight about Skip than anything else I have read so far. He seems like a guy that knows what he wants and what he needs to do to get there, which is my kind of guy. Sounds mature and hungry, a perfect mix.
I'm sure it's a typo, but did anyone else catch this? He's coming here to do things that he's not supposed to do?
"It’s a chance of a lifetime. You don’t get many chances at a crack at the title or close to contending and I’m happy to be a part of this." - that's the point.
Ooh baby, I like it. Great questions from Calkins and even better answers. I noticed that he didn't mention Yao either with the other players, but it's not a big deal. I know we won't have to worry 'bout him not passing to Yao. 'Cause there's only one place Skip'll be if he doesn't. Plus, it's just a gimme that Yao's the focus, so he didn't even feel the need to mention 'em. I'm really liking his attitude after that interview, no worries.
I think he was making mention to some of his supposed short comings. He is not supposed to be able to defend the ball and he makes mention of his ability to do just that. I took it as being a team player, tough defender, pass first guy that he got wrapped for not being last year.
