Just rebuild now with a couple of top 10 picks! I don't like Dwights attitude, I don't like athletic players that develop back problems and I don't like 1 year rentals. None of y'all that want him can complain after he leaves in a year, he flat out told you he will. Applaud him for his honesty on that one. If we get him for a 1 year rental and he signs elsewhere, Morey should be fired on the spot, and I'm a huge fan of his! I also don't want to waste high draft picks for Smith, Pau or Gordon. Will make us a little better, but doesn't really get us much closer to a championship team!! Just get top 10 picks and start the rebuild!!!!!
I wouldn't pay much attention to all the rumors around Dwight Howard's preferred destination. Most of the people speaking on his destination are "sources" which could be anyone, especially some sports writer trying to make a name for himself. Unless Dwight has a press conference and verbally expresses his disinterest with Houston, I will not believe anything these "sources" say. At this point, it's all about convincing Orlando to trade with us and providing all the necessary pieces to make it happen. We can convince Dwight to stay all next season which is very possible unless he likes to lose and leave money on the table. Also, for those who think the H. Rockets will be like the Orlando Magic, Cleveland Cavaliers, or Raptors who cannot retain all star players. Consider the crap players these all-stars had to play with. The Houston Rockets are not like any other organization. We have a very good GM, a good market, and good role players to make this a championship run. The rockets have remained competitive in the Western Conference and continue to do so without an all-star. How many teams can say that? D. Howard would be a fool not to consider Houston.
we alredy crazy here , bring us superman. howard, don't care about ur money loss fm adidas or nike , if u come to houston , many chinese company will provide u good Advertising contract , and u will be invited to chinese every summer for the commercial Tour , u may ask hayes, battier , and other rockets player , how chinese market treate them . come on superman, u will love houston whatever fans , city , weather and money aspects
Absolutely. The mentality of so many in this thread is exactly what enables divas like Dwight to exist. They talk a big game and bruise your Rocket fan egos, so you give them exactly what they're looking for (control)? Boy, that'll really teach them a lesson and change things for the next time! Think about this logically, not emotionally. I don't care if it's Brooklyn - Dwight IS NOT going to spend the prime of his career in an NBA wasteland. The roster around him in Orlando isn't terrible - it's mediocre, but not awful - and they're not a contender. And we're supposed to believe he wants to play on the garbage that is NJ without Deron? All for less money and years? Take a look at the teams potentially with cap room in 2013 to sign him. It's not pretty. The odds certainly aren't 100% that he re-signs, but they aren't zero, either. Dwight's camp clearly wants one thing, and we've known it for weeks - a trade to Brooklyn before free agency. They're going to say whatever they have to - no matter how ridiculous - to try and force it. Why? Because for some players, IT WORKS. I don't want the Rockets to be cowards and enable it to work again.
It wouldn't surprie me one bit if Deron backtracked and opted in to the last year of his current deal, pushing his FA to next season to match Dwight.
Of course they are going to say Brooklyn is his ultimate destination regardless of the presence of DWill. They're still trying to stop the trade to Houston.
My God, was that article written by the President of the Nets Fan Club? Deron's staying with the Nets because he invited Avery Johnson to his birthday party!!!! Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!
Chris Broussard is the biggest joke in modern journalism, and that's saying a lot. Whenever I saw the byline, I closed the window.
I was gonna say, Yeah, but what about Skip Bayless or....? But you're probably right. Broussard's such a Dwight (make that "duh-WIGHT") Howard jocksniffer, but then again, that's probably what got him the job. At least Stephen A. Smith...wait, sorry---STEPHEN A. SMITH!!!---has some valid points, and is a little less annoying now that he screams less. Oops, now I need to pummel the white BSPNers. Hell, other than annoying-as-hell Bayless, I don't even remember their names. Nor want to. EDIT: Can we please forget Howard's punk azz and move on? If he wants a big shoe deal playing for a Russian gazillionaire, fine. So be it. Acquiring him would be a weird sort of double-rape: Morey: He doesn't want it? Let's **** him anyway. Dwight: (Several months of dogging it on the court later) I don't want them. They're decent enough dudes, they kiss my butt real nice, but I'll **** them anyway.
1.Build a quick contender. Make a deep playoff run 2.More money on contract, substantially lower taxes than New York. 3.A Lot of people don't think highly of Houston, until they come here. 4.Very bad PR, bailing on a contender built the fair way to go to brooklyn strictly for your brand name and not winning. If we get him here we have a lot of reasons to think we can change his mind. But it all hinges on Morey being able to build an instant contender around him in one offseason. It's a risk, but considering how hard title contenders are to build, it's a risk worth taking.
Yup. It's not that Broussard's always wrong, but how he gets his information. He's not a reporter. He might as well be an agent. His methodology is to become buddy-buddy in all the right circles, allow them to use him on a daily basis to spread their agenda, and in exchange, he occasionally learns of a deal a minute before everyone else. He's an insult to the national folks like Woj and Aldridge who know when to draw the line.
http://www.sports790.com/cc-common/...cted_podcast=JoshRobbins_1340803853_29311.mp3 Josh Robbins(Orlando Sentinel): Hennigan not on the job long. Has he reached out to Dwight? I don't know for sure. I would think that he would have. Not a lot of talk coming from Magic or Dwight Howard. Difficult to know for certain. Do the Magic know which way is up? They have a sense that Dwight wants a fresh start. I'm certain they had that sense. Is there anything any GM could say to Dwight to convince him otherwise? I'd say no. We have to remember though where Dwight seemed certain about a path and flip flopped. You have to keep that in your mind. How do the Magic sell Howard that the team will be better? I think it will be a very difficult sell. Do the changes have to come this upcoming season? Probably. Probably. At the very minimum, they have to map out a vision for the future. I'm not sure the last group did that. I'm certain Rob has more of a vision than the previous regime. Is it realistic Dwight could be traded before Thursday night? Whether before Thursday night or on Thursday night is irrelevant. If he gets traded in the next few days, if Houston is going to get it done, it's going to take more than 14, 16, 18 picks. I don't see the point of, from the Magic's standpoint, making that deal for young players who don't have star potential. No question two top ten picks are better than 14, 16, 18. Rockets have work to do before they make a more attractive offer. What are the Rockets or other teams getting with Dwight and his attitude? Before he was happy go lucky, wearing capes, smiling, having a good time. I think the view is different of Dwight Howard now. A couple of thoughts on that: whenever he stepped on the court this past year, he gave max effort. Some games he was not Dwight like, specifically against the Knicks, when SVG allegged that Dwight wanted him gone. He always played hard and played to win. Dwight doesn't want to be traded to Houston. He wants to play in Brooklyn. He wants such a deal to happen sooner than later to keep the chance alive to play with Deron Williams. Very strong thought that Why he waived his opt out was because he could be traded to LA or Houston. He doesn't want to play in Houston in the long term. If he were to be traded there, I think he'd give max effort. I don't think he'd be a problem though. I don't think he wants to stay there long term though. What was he so afraid of being traded to a city when he could then leave in 2 months? LA - He didn't want to be seen as following Shaq's path. He's sensitive to that perception. That's part of it. Houston - He don't want to be there. He doesn't want to deal with more questions with what he was going to do. He wanted to see what the Magic could do in the playoffs. He's a smart guy. He knew the Magic are not the quality of team the Heat are but with Howard, that's not such a terrible matchup for the Magic. He wanted to give the playoffs one more shot with the Magic with some of his teammates. Why he opted in, I'm not sure we'll ever know. Do you think the Nets have enough to entice the Magic? I don't think the Nets have enough at all. Lopez, even before this season, was viewed as good offensive player, subpar rebounder, and poor defender. Injuries are a risk now. The move to aquire Wallace, the Nets traded away a top ten pick. Nets don't have the assets. The Magic have to be nuts to make a deal with a team because Dwight wants that team. Magic have to look out for their best interest. Magic would be better off making deal with Houston or Portland than the Nets. Opening night next year, what uniform is he wearing? Don't think it will be the Magic uniform. Difficult for me to say. I think we'll get a sense in PC today with the new GM. He'll face a lot of questions of where he stands with Dwight. Not sure he'll answer them. What are the real legitmate concerns about his back moving forward? I've heard he is rehabbing very well and all indications are that he will be fine and up to speed. That said, I've heard he hasn't been in the gym doing his typical summer workouts, so a question there. It will be facinating to see how it plays out. Will he have a minute restriction? I think he'll be right around 100% to start the season.
