I agree. That's exactly why I never understood the guys who said Lebron was taking the easy way out. Staying in Cleveland would have been the easy way out. He would have had a built in excuse (poor supporting cast) every time his team came up short. This year, he played great for three rounds and was within two games of winning a championship, and yet he's being crucified by the media (and rightfully so). Putting yourself in the situation where anything short of a championship every year is a failure is not the easy way out.
Agreed. Their poor team defense was badly exposed this series. Guys like Barea and Terry easily were easily breaking down their D every game. And anytime Dirk was 1-1, the help would arrive way too late and he'd get an easy layup.
Get a point guard that is strickly there to shoot and defend, preferably one with size. Let Lebron fall into the role of point guard so him and Wade aren't stepping on each others toes at the end of games. Trade Bosh for a PF/C that actually plays in the post, blocks shots, anchors the defense. Bosh actually played the most consistently out of the three with the touches that he got, but it does them no good to have another perimeter player. Overall the Heat are fine, but I said this at the beginning of the season: "you have too much overlap in talent between those three guys". I feel that my opinion was validated watching these guys play in the fourth quarter.
Lebron, Bosh, Wade and a 1sr round draft pick for Dragic, Hasheem, Miller, Hill and Patterson plus trade exceptions.
I don't understand why Chalmers can't be that guy. His defense is pretty good most of the time and he shot 36% on threes (38% in the playoffs). He makes some dumb plays sometimes, but who is out there that would be a better fit if you want outside shooting and defense?
^^^ Although Chalmers is a very talented scorer, he sometimes plays pretty selfishly IMO. But he's young and may yet figure out how to remain aggressive while playing off better perimeter players in Wade and James. Strengthening the frontcourt is a given, but the bigger problem for the Heat is figuring out how to mesh Wade and James's games better. Right now, there are too many times when Wade and James take turn being "the man" while the other guy stands on the weakside corner doing a Shane Battier impression. And there are too few plays that take advantage of both players' abilities simultaneously.
The thing is, the Heat cannot make any major improvements if they want to stay with the "Big 3." Bosh, James, Wade, Haslem, Miller, Anthony are signed to long term deals which, combined, cost more than $60 mil next year and that number is only going up. And we are not talking what it would cost them to sign Chalmers and James Jones back yet. http://www.shamsports.com/content/pages/data/salaries/heat.jsp Miller, Haslem, and Anthony really can't be traded for anything good in return. They gave away multiple draft picks in the James and Bosh S&Ts. The only way they realistically add anyone is through the use of cap exceptions in FA, assuming such exceptions still exist in the next CBA. So, they likely stuck with low draft picks, and cheap FAs (who are most likely gonna be Bibby/Damp/Juwan/Z-type ringchasers at best) in addition to the 6 guys they signed long term. Basically, the same structure as this year's team-- which is not necessarily a bad thing since they did make it to the Finals and it may be worth it to give this thing another shot. However, if they don't think the way this team is built this year is really a good championship model, the only real option is to trade one of their stars.
The Heat will probably win at least one. Although there is every chance that they only win one. Wade is getting older, and injuries have been a problem for him. He is 30 next season. The lockout could be the best thing to happen to the Heat. Shortened season means less wear and tear, leaving more gas in the tank.
I think it's actually good for the Heat when Chalmers has his "selfish" moments. It seems to usually catch the defense off guard and he ends up with good shots that Wade and James don't have to work to create. I agree. The Wade/James pick-and-roll seemed to work for a little while, but Miami needs more than that. They also need to come up with something to attack a zone, otherwise more Eastern conference teams will implement that throughout the season because they know it will give the Heat trouble in the playoffs.
How would they be the Buffolo Bills? This is silly The Bills are 0-for-forever At least the Heat have one trophy
