Oh, I don't think battier can help alot in guarding the PGs. In fact, battier is good at guarding PFs and some big SFs like LBJ, but he's not professional in dealing with small guards. that's why he always sucks when he faces Kobe or other quick guards.

The missing piece of our defense is located on PG, so it's always very hard to beat a team who has a BIG guy at PG. Even warriors brought us piles of troubles because rafer is too poor to stop davis excuting his crazy work. We need a PG who can defend, it's a PG who can play defense.

We are one of the slower teams in the NBA, however we utilize our strengths on defence (man on man/guarding the paint)and have the ability to suffocate the other team and force them to make bad shots through physical defence. When Battier comes back, don't expect opposing teams to score over 90. NO LAYUPS!

Our defense is based on defending as a team because face it Yao and now Tmac are both defensive liabilities. Yao seems slower than ever maybe his legs just are not fully back after the injury. I think Rick is playing Yao to many minutes and that's not helping him. If you notice he's always going to struggle to guard the pick and roll but also he can't guard big guys that can shoot the 15 ft jumper. The game vs the Celtics they totally keyed in on this with K. Perkins the guy had 15pts off of just shooting with Yao no where near him. Also Yao can't recover near the basket once he commits to block a shot many PGs or slashers to the rim will be challenged by Yao just to dump it off under the basket to a teammate for a slam dunk a la Bandon Roy the other night.

Last year Rick seemed willing to give Scola, Hayes, and Landry back up minutes to give Yao a breather. This year he's forcing Yao to play 40 minutes a game and that's going to bite us in the a$$ if he doesn't trim Yao's minutes. They'd better look to get some legitimate size down low if it means bring back Mutombo so be it, but they need a big physical PF that can defend like an Otis Thorpe.

Tmac has no laternal quickness at this point in the season he's pretty much getting beat off the dribble at will by the oposing player. Ray Allen blew by Mac like he was cemented to the floor and he's not giving a consistent effort on the defensive end the way he did under JVG. We could have used a guy like Billups, a big physical PG that can defend, I think Denver will be a better team after that trade.

I think our overall team defense will improve once Battier gets back but I don't see smart teams that can execute their offense having any trouble getting open shots on us as long as Mac and Yao continue to struggle like they have so far this season on the defensive end.
