Yes, I meant recently. The games you listed are all PS1 games. As RC Cola pointed out, only Kingdom Hearts was the only big Square game on PS2. Although I did enjoy Radiata Stories in a quirky way.

I recommend FF10, although I don't have a high opinion of its main character. Still, I think it provides the whole package. I was personally addicted to FF12's system, mainly because I loved setting up gambits, but thought the story was flat.

You really thought so? I felt FF12 was a lot more gameplay driven than any game before it. FF12's biggest problem storywise, IMO, is that it tries to be too grand, but failed because it didn't have enough meat in the story to back it up. Granted, I can understand this when you're trying to reach a large audience, but it ended up being a very shallow story. It had the potential though.

And just to be clear, I don't think FFs are ONLY about eyecandy. But rather that is their biggest selling point. I do feel their stories are generally much better compared to average RPGs.
