Biggest Loser (like to watch the killer wokouts and body transformations. Have to fast forward the commercial filled weigh ins. Could NOT watch this show live)
Survivor (watched it on and off since season 1)
Amazing Race (like to see how the people interact with different cultures)
Real World challenges (used to watch the regular Real Worlds but I think I'm getting too old for those kids. The challenge aspect adds enough intrigue to make it interesting)
Bachelor/Bachelorette (watch it to have a something to discuss with a chick I like...heh)
18 Kids and Counting (the Duggers are something else)
Jon and Kate (sad how things have turned out. Feel bad for the kids)
The Joe Schmoe Show (now defunct but that show was great. Only one "contestant" was real and all the others were actors)
True Life, Made (like it only if it's a topic I'm interested in. Funny on true life they had back to back episodes of "I don't like my small breasts." followed by "I don't like my large breasts."
Ninja Warrior (some of those dudes are amazing athletes)
Property Virgins (gives some perspective on home buying)

Not really reality, but I love Intervention, Hoarders and the rest of the A&E stuff.

Also, Being Bobby Brown was my joint...and he's coming back! :D

    Can't help some of it...it's the off-season.

Sure its probably been mentioned, but one of my favorite shows is The First 48 on A&E. Keep hoping they will come to h-town to film. Plenty of opportunities to solve homicide cases here.

Well, when you make broad comments like this:

and get called "snippy" because of it, I really don't think it has anything to do with what gender you are....

Anyway, just to be clear, when I say “reality shows” I’m not just talking about the VH1 dating shows…. I’m including any show that isn’t (supposed to be) scripted. There are hundreds of these shows and I know that, unless you don’t watch TV at all, you’ve watched a few of them. Hayesfan, you said you watch that cake show. Uh....that's a reality show...

And to the guy who said Survivor has nothing to do with actually surviving on a desert isle, well no **** Sherlock. I don’t think anyone who watches the show really thinks those people are actually stranded on a desert island with no food…… The show is called Survivor because it’s about surviving the GAME, not actually surviving on a desert island…… LOL.

Oh yes, The First 48 is excellent. Although I personally don't consider it a reality show by today's standards.

Didnt really think about those two as "reality" shows, but I Survived a Japanese Gameshow is indeed one...that I also watch.

Wipeout is more of a game show in my eyes....different people every show competing for a money prize that is awarded at the end of that episode....if it was a reality show the same people would be in it week after week....dontcha think?

I do so love seeing people Wipeout...especially those that have no business whatsoever tryin the course.

I want to do it just for the fun of it.

Wipeout is a really poor redo of MXC. I'd try to find those episodes.

I watched the first Survivor diligently. Hung on every episode -- had my own internal Survivor GARM going on every week.

I liked the Amazing Race -- but was a little put off by how rude the contestants could be during their travels. I travel at a significantly slower and more relaxed state.

I hadn't been able to sit through any 'reality' series other then those. Even the later Survivors. I found them pointless, full of rude, self-indulgent, clueless people. I didn't hate that they were on TV -- just had absolutely no interest in watching them. Then I somehow got hooked on Celebrity Apprentice this year. I offer no excuse. But man I looked forward to it.

And, Hayes -- if we didn't know your gender, we'd be making snippy comments about how you're acting like a girl ;).

This whole thing "I don't watch reality show or a show that doesn't fit my standards. You are stupid if you watch them." is pretty dumb...

I didn't know we were being judged by our television viewing tastes.

Sometimes, I want to escape from the reality so I watch some crazy ass reality shows like real housewives of atlanta because of hilarious over top scripted drama or TV shows like desperate housewives or grey's anatomy.

I do agree that there are too many reality shows now and taking away golden opportunities for new TV shows. There should be a balance for the networks but ratings are $$$ to network execs. So what can you do?

LOL, I always get a kick at how some of the contestants will get mad at a taxi driver in China who doesn't speak English. GOD FORBID they have the audacity to only speak their native language!

If someone told you they bought the Soulja Boy CD, wouldn't you think any differently of that person?

    Same principle.

I don't mind people being TV snobs, it prevents us from going in this direction...

Excellent point. Crap taste in music tells me a person has zero interest in anything except crappy pop nonsense that is being fed to them by corporate interests whose only interest is to find something that sounds like something else. In short, they like commercials, not music. And the fans of this crap are ruining it for everyone else from fans to struggling musicians to the "artists" that continue to feed the corporate machine. It's dumbing down a generation and frankly, I hate it and I've hated it for 15-20 years.

From what I know about The Colony, okay. Survivor? Sure. And probably a few of the others are okay, too. I don't watch them, but I get the premise and I can accept it. "Reality" TV like The Real World, Sweet 16, Big Brother, Rock of Love, Tila Tequila, and whatever dating show you can name is contributing to the dumbing down by helping feed some warped idea that you can be a spoiled, entitled brat and out-slut yourself to fame and fortune and frankly, I hate it and I've hated it for 10-15 years.

Sounds like those kids that are impressionable by these shows don't have good parenting.

    What he said.

I've come to the conclusion that there are two types of people in this world -- those that are genuinely fans of music, and those that don't really care for it.

The first group actively seeks out good music, aside from what is being "fed" to them.

The second group just wants some background noise while driving, something to dance to when they go out, basically something to drown out silence. I've noticed that many people in this group don't typically have an MP3 player yet, and if they do..they don't really use it.

To me, your tastes in music, I can look past. I can't stand it if someone criticizes someone else's tastes in music.

For whatever reason, reality TV hits a nerve with me. I cant seem to treat it the same way. The common denominator across the board on these shows is drama, not TNT drama, but really annoying drama with the annoying drama music which seems to be shared between all these shows.

Whether it be the plotting of someone against another person and watching people get pissed off, watching people be completely ugly human beings to each other, someone crying b/c they couldn't dance well enough, sing well enough while someone else cuts them down, etc. etc. It's like everyone chosen for these shows have some kind of character flaw that makes them act like children or that everything is so over-dramatic. This is entertainment now?

I just get a little upset when my pregnant wife sits and watches this crap because I just feel like she's making my unborn child stupid. Maybe that's why I feel so strongly about it.

Children will find interest in what their parents do. It's why I'm a Rockets fan. My dad was. I know I'll hate a lot of what my child does as he grows up. But Reality TV...I just can't handle that.
