He is not your gradual improvement guy, he explodes onto the scene. He could be anyone, Jordan and Hakeem are probably better due to longevity. And LBJ.
He also literally just turned 25. He had a bunch of starts last year and did really well for Wiz. He might be legit
They already had Bertans, the Israeli guy Avdija......and wanted to semi retool. Teams always want to get younger.
He reminds of of a poor man’s Steph curry without the handles and consistent shooting form but plays defense or a poor man’s Reggie Miller coming off of curls and screens. If he can get his form down consistently coming off those curls and screens…… His shot kind of went to **** some in the 4th due to his form. I like this kid though, he got potential to be a great player.
To be honest if he stays consistent and improves, he has potential to be as good as a bigger JJ Redick or even better. JJ was 6'3 200lbs, Garry is 6'5 215. If he can be consistent, handle the volume and minutes, I don't see why not. JJ didn't start to reach his potential until after age 25 also. https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/r/redicjj01.html He's been shooting well his whole career and has intangibles you can't teach.
Sounds like a lesser Klay Thompson that you are describing. It will be interesting to see how he holds up with better scouting against him, more minutes, and higher usage rates.
I've noticed that GM gets carried away with his shot selection after he hits a few. I'd like to see him only take shots in the rhythm. That 3 he got fouled on in the 4th was Gerald Green-esque from a shot selection standpoint.
A man of his skillset should be shooting and hitting those 3s at a decent rate. Can't be a "3 point specialist" and not be special at hitting 3s.
