heypee-That was for this offseason. In terms of looking for a star via trade this offseason, if we could get one in a trade (like Reef) before we sign Shandon, Shandon will be sitting at 2.86 unrenounced.

    ------------------
"That's been a lifelong dream of mine." -Vince Carter, after laying it in on a breakaway, much to the Vancouver crowd's displeasure.

But if you can sign Shandon at $2.8m, I could sign him at $2.4m.

Fegan will ask for $4.1m and beyond, claiming we can afford that. Don't even consider renouncing Shandon...that won't happen.

It will come down to max Early Bird and beyond for multiple years, or low numbers for one year, imo.

Actually, the question IS: how high do you negotiate with Fegan.

If he says you owe his client (and thus himself) back pay, like TheFreak believes, then you might want to weigh in that considering you'll have to negotiate with Fegan again some day. But, I think this is overrated, as Anderson would certainly be happy with a sign-n-trade to a team of his choosing. So, it is not like we must pay Shandon or piss off Fegan. There are other solutions.

I consider paying back pay something only when you are already over the cap. imo, this summer of cap spending is way too vital to be worrying about Shandon getting back pay. You do not get salary cap windfalls like this too often.

My belief is: spend the money wisely. Don't just spend it just because you have it. Just because we can give Shandon a Mobley contract, doesn't mean we should.

It is shrewd of me, but I would not give someone I consider a non-starter more than max Early Bird pay unless we are trying to hold together a title contender. Right now, we are not a title contender, so we can't spend middle class pay on everyone, since we need to save money for superstar pay.

Bottom line: I would not make Shandon a real offer until the Webber question is answered. If we get Webber, I'd offer Shandon 6 yrs at maximum Early Bird. If we don't get Webber, I'd offer Shandon 1 yr at 12.5% raise, and call Fegan's bluff, telling him we are going to do it all over again next Summer with Full Bird rights at Fegan's disposal.

Thing is: the Full Bird rights is NOT something Fegan is going to ignore. He'll take a 1 yr. He has NO CHOICE. Shandon won't get offered more than the Middle Class Exception, imo. And if he leaves via free agency, he has 3 more years before Full Bird comes around again.

Call Fegan's bluff with a 1 yr, unless we get Webber...then give Shandon the Early Bird max for however many years he wants it. I'll bet you; Fegan will only want it for 1 yr.

    NIKEstrad:

    T-Wolves:

    over felipe lopez? no way.

felipe is a good defender who has actually been scoring of late. in fact, he's looking a lot like malik sealy did b4 the accident.

    Nuggets:

    over abdul-wahad & co.? nope.

shandon and tariz are the same player. why start shandon?

    Nets:

can't think of who they start @ SG outside of stephen jackson, but i can guarantee shandon's no better than stephen jackson, and wouldn't start there either.
