I honestly Do not blame the Nuggets for not wanting to send Melo to the Rockets. In the West as competitive as it is, making another team a contender automatically hurts your team when they are also in the running. The Nuggets know that the Clippers, Kings, etc. are a few years away even with Melo so if it has to be a team in the West, they are it.

Even if Houston can put together the best package, its still Denver's decision on where he goes this year. It might be better for them to try and make the playoffs this year with him and let him walk at the end of the year, then automatically go from 3rd or 4th seed in the west to Lottery rebuilding team from one disgruntled star.

You have to put yourself in the GM's seat for the Nuggets to see what could really work for this trade to go down. IMO we have to give them more than just future talent/cap relief... we have to give them the ability to make the playoffs this year without Melo. If they are high on Kevin Martin, he is probably the best option we have to get them on board, and I bet Morey is not very open to trading him.

Im not sure Rockets fans have seen enough of Martin to know how good he really is, and how it might be better to stay with him than to give up all those assets for a player that isnt much of an upgrade. But hey, I am all for trying to get him because if we can get him without depleating our roster and future assets, then its a must if we want to win the title this next year.

Ok, maybe you can answer this for me, why if you are in a rebuilding phase are you overly concerned about the state of a playoff team reaching finals calibre in their 4 year window?

And by that, what I specifically mean is why if you are shooting at returning to the top around the 2015-2020 period, would you want to bolster another team whose target is the same rather than putting it to a team whose window would ideally be 2010-2015 and would themselves be in a rebuilding phase when you are trying to win.

It just seems counter intuitive to me to target bolstering teams whose age brackets match your own goals.

He said Houston or the Nets (East team) are acceptable, in the same statement. Somehow you get only that he "wants to go to Houston" out of that?

Uh, no. People are getting carried away with the Melo hyperbole. He's not Michael Jordan.

If we do get him, I hope we get to keep Brooks. It will be like having the 04-05 team again, except we're much stronger at PG, SF (Melo), and PF. If Martin stays then the downgrade from McGrady will not be that significant. If Yao can last a couple of seasons, then we have a pretty good chance at winning this.

It would be great if Adelman can make Carmelo start his offense from the mid to high post ala McGrady against the Jazz (sans Yao). Don't know if that's realistic considering both Scola and Yao would be on the other side. I just know that I wouldn't want Melo starting his offense from the 3 point line since his percentage stinks.

Carmelo Anthony fits RA's system to a tea. A small forward who can shoot the three and moves to get open or can back you up down low. I think what is holding up this trade with Denver might be that Daryl Morey might not want to trade Martin or Brooks. The only way I would trade Brooks would be if we get Billiups back. They are playing HARDBALL with the Rockets. If the Rockets get Carmelo for Hill,Budinger,Taylor and two draft picks to go along with Jeffries that would make us the favorite from the West on paper. You can be looking at a Houston vs. Miami finals in 2011 in a series I would feel confident on winning because our depth is vastly better then theirs.
