Could there possibly be a worse source than "RealGM via some dude's twitter"?

No wonder two of the most intelligent "Rocket scientists" on this board are the two most active posters in this thread.

The Nuggets want to trade him East. That way he won't come back and haunt them.

The Kings and the Twolves are crappy options being used as a scare tactic to get him to agree to the Nets.

If Melo wants to play for the Rockets or Clippers, he's going to have to use the threat of not resigning to get to the Rockets or Clippers. I believe that T-Mac used the threat of not resigning to force himself to the Rockets...

Unless the Nets give up Brook Lopez, I don't see how anything they could offer would trump what the Rockets can put on the table. Furthermore, if the Nets give up Lopez or any significant talent, Melo will be stuck in rebuilding mode with them for a long time coming - and in NJ for the next two years as well.

The fact that the source mentions the Kings and Wolves means it's a joke to me. No way Melo would ever sign an extension with them.

The Nuggets may be more concerned about Melo haunting than getting the best deal. That is probably the reason why the Rockets and Clippers aren't on the Nuggets list of potential Melo suitors despite being the two team that can probably make the best offers.

Couldn't Melo just veto? Does he have a no trade clause?

Early word around NBA is Nuggets will try to trade Carmelo to 1 of 3 teams: Wolves, Kings, Nets. In other words, careful what you wish for.

If I were Melo I'd rather stay in Denver than go to sacramento or minnesota. Brooklyn would be preferred by far.

Or he can just tank with whatever team he ends up with. I'm sure that'll scare some teams that are trying to get him.

That's the choice that Denver seems to want Melo to make. Melo is going to have to use the threat of not agreeing to sign an extension in order to get him to either the Rockets or Clippers...

It seems to be Melo's call. As of now, it seems the Rockets and Clippers in the same boat as the Knicks; in the outside looking in...

His "buddies" want attention more than playing in June. But would Denver really do Melo a favor and send him to a contender?

Main thing you guys are also failing to see is if they do trade him to a team he doesn't want to goto, he will not sign the extension before being traded.

The other team will be paying for a 1 year rental and he will jet. Also if the other team knows hes not signing an extension, they arent going to offer the Nuggets a fair deal for Melo.

Simple as that, if Nuggets want decent assets in return for Melo they have to deal with a team that he wants to goto

they probbably announced this because they want more from morey.
im sure morey is giving them just the youngs and picks and no real "instant talent". Now if we get melo we are gonna have to dish in either brooks or martin because it might be our last shot at getting that caliber of a player in a while. Go big or go home

You are exactly right. The only teams that matter are the ones that Melo is willing to sign an extension with and that can also provide the types of players and picks the Nuggets are interested in.

No GM (including Kaaaaaaaahhhhhnnnn! since Melo isn't a point guard) is dumb enough to trade young talent and draft picks without Melo doing an extension and trade. If you notice the article was worded that the Nuggets want to trade Melo to those teams but failed to show any feasibility of it happening in the case of the Kings and Wolves. This is a case of the Nuggets being bitter about Melo's agent demanding that he be traded. Both sides will stare each other down over the next month or so in order to save face and then a trade will be done.

I believe that the only real competition the Rockets have are the Nets and the Clippers, provided that the Nets are willing to trade Lopez or the Clippers are willing to trade Griffin. If those teams aren't willing to trade those players (which is very likely) then the Rockets automatically jump to the front of the line if the Nuggets truly want to get the best value for Melo in a trade.
