[RealGM RUMOR] Toronto Raptors called about Shane Battier

This has to do with (a) Heisley's (supposed) love of Battier (b) Griz' need for a Battier-like player (c) Marc Gasol's emergence. It is something I believe would be considered by Griz; would Rox be interested?

 

Hell yeah I would trade Battier for Thabeet. The problem is why would Memphis do it? That's their 2nd pick right there.

By "respect", really I meant just settling in as the understood defensive captain. Having a few games for his hustle to be infectious. I didnt mean earn team respect like some Euro guy coming over, like a rookie being hazed or anything

I think he CAN impact a team. Just not as immediate as say a lengthy shot blocker, or instant offense off the bench or something. Everyone says his intangibles aren't always so noticable, so it'll just take time for the effect to be apparent.
