The Portland board on RealGM seems pretty convinced that the rumors are true about friction between Adelman and Les. I'm sure it had everything to do with playing T-Mac, and I guarantee it was Les putting pressure on Adelman to play him. I have a feeling things will blow over (or already have blown over) regarding this though, and Adelman will be extended before the season is over. At least this is what I'm wishing.
I havent "heard" anything, its just when you listen to Adelman speak, he always sounds irritated. Ive never really heard RA say he likes it here or anything along those lines, but I have heard him say how much he likes Portland. Personally I know how you could not love coaching here, but I am just saying it wouldnt shock me if he left Houston for Portland.
ignore this post. the mod was referring to another guy on that board who is apparently usually spot on with his predictions.
Let me preface what I'm about to say with I'm not convinced that this is true. I don't think RA is going anywhere. But, if he did, I wouldn't mind.
Three of those 6 coaches are former Rockets players. Oh, and Don Chaney was also Coach of the Year for the Rockets... then got fired.
I remember there was some friction before the season started about Adelman and his assistants not getting extentions in the off season that they wanted. This is just a rehash of that. Unfortunately, Les has been burned a few too many times with bad contracts so he isn't going to discuss contracts until the current one is almost up. Remember Les didn't even talk to JVG about an extension until the middle of his last season here which JVG declined.
Even if this rumor is true, Les Alexander would be nuts to allow personal feelings to prevent him from keeping one of the top coaches in the league. Before making any rash moves, Alexander needs to read "Team of Rivals." http://www.amazon.com/Team-Rivals-P...=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1261548241&sr=8-1
That isn't anything we didn't already know, Les has had isues with everyone of the Rockets past coaches(Yeah even Rudy T!!) But certainly they're not as dire and heated enough to let a great coach walk. As long as we continue to win Rick isn't going anywhere.
I just wanted to alert clutchfans to this rumor in case it DOES have some validity, so we can avoid the worst, thats all.
I can see Les and Rick maybe not seeing eye to eye on personnel issues (Les probably loooooooooooves those All-Stars), but who knows what's true? Nothing we can do about it. Hopefully it's bogus or will blow over.
I feel it's so funny. Since the rockets are openly shopping Tmac, Les must agree to trade him. It's nothing to do with Adelman's extension. I guess the difference between Adelman and Les is about how many years the extension would be.
A dude called LickSpittle on the TrailBlazers RealGM forum who sounds pretty confident of his "insider knowledge", and after having told the mods where his sources come from, see to believe him...(or perhaps want to believe him?)
