OR you could do the search and post it and prove that you were correct in your statement.

How lazy for a Rice junkie :)

Ok, to humor Meg I have done the research myself.

Population of Metro Areas, in millions (source: Census.gov)
    Boston: 5.7
    Seattle: 3.5
    Las Vegas: 1.4
    New Orleans: 1.3
    Austin: 1.1
Honolulu: 0.9 (my uncertainty about Honolulu stands)

other Real World cities I can think of:
    Philly: 6.0
    San Diego 2.8
    LA: 16
    NYC: 20.2
Atlanta: 3.9 (I think they had one there, not sure)
    Chicago: 8.9
    Miami: 3.7
    San Francisco: 6.9

Clearly you're forgetting Rice and its well-endowed.

I actually do think Houston would be a better place for the Real World than Austin. I don't care though, as long as Dallas doesn't get it.

thank gawd it's Austin and not Houston! Most of the time, the neighborhoods these RW series are shot, end up hating their RW neighbors...

your extreme prejudice towards UT and Austin is almost mind-boggling.

nothing to do in austin??? there is absolutely no way you graduated from Rice. none whatsoever.

Also, they'll be hard pressed to find illiterate cowboys in Austin. It's actually pretty liberal (as Rush caller said "a blue boil on an otherwise red state) and is also one of the three most literate cities in the US. There are alot of college grads and the median age is very young in Austin.

As for cowboys, this could add some perspective. Austin is twice the size of Corpus (at least), yet Corpus has more country music stations.

Agreed. I would be shocked if they didn't play up all the Texas stereotypes. My money is that they'll work on a dude ranch.

I would have, but you're not pissing and moaning about "metro areas", just "cities" and "places". Your apology accepted in advance.

Does anyone even watch the show anymore?!?!? I doubt Austin residents will give 2 sh!ts about their city being in the MTV spotlight.

Its kind of like Hard Rock Cafe opening up a few years ago on 6th street. Nobody cared then, now, or later.

The Real World is not the "real world" - Its a free ride playground for 5 spoiled white kids, a homosexual, and an African-American.

Austin actually has sold the most books per capita for quite some in all of the U.S.

That is so true. I've never even thought of stepping in that place and I live about a mile from it.

    Bullseye.

I haven't watched more than 5 minutes of that show in about 5 years.

I've got a feeling someone on this series will end up getting the crap kicked out of them.

I have changed my mind. Fire, although a true elemental force, does not fit here.

    I am now thinking bazooka.

Austin is far and away the best City in the state of Texas, and it doesn't bother me that people stereotype Texans, I use the dumb hick trick all the time to get better deals out of business people.

"I just don't understand all the big nuances of the deal, I just know that I want a bigger piece of the pie, Fair is fair, right?"

    Works every time.
