Not to mention, he was 1st in minutes played two years ago, and 2nd last year. He's a minutes eater. It's always good to have multiple people that can log a ton of minutes while putting up consistent production on the roster. Also, he was top 20 in assists and steals, so basically, this guy can do it all. Would be awesome if were to somehow land him.
Sure, it could be done. However, this 'deal' sure sounded like a 'throw-out' not an impending or considering deal. But, as long as we are tweaking this 'rumor' let's throw Williams into the pot. Expensive, talented; 3rd pg/back-up 2.
I'd do it for Iggy and Smith, because pressing for Hawes would probably cause the deal to fall apart.
Now that i have time to digest...i think Iggy fit this team perfectly. We need a guy that attack and then kick out to Brooks or Martin...that's lethal right now and Iggy is the guy that likes to pass. He had something like 5 or 6 assists per game?? PERFECT!!
I'd just be content with a Jeffries + Ariza + Hill for Iguodala + Smith Sign Brad Miller and I think we are set. Wait till the deadline and aquire a star if their is an oppurtunity. Brooks/Lowry Martin/Budinger Iguodala/Battier Scola/Patterson/Hayes Yao/Miller/Smith I'd go to war with that lineup anyday of the week. I think that's better than the Lakers if you ask me. Brooks>Fisher Martin<Bryant Iguodala>Artest Scola=<Gasol Yao>Bynum I think our bench of Lowry, Battier, Budinger, Patterson, Hayes, Miller is much bette and balanced than Odom, Blake, Brown, Vujacic, Mbgena.
Igggy is better than Ariza...and we r stacked at PF with Scola and PPatt so JHill is expendable. I like the proposition. Let's make it happen, DM. Plus Jason Smith is a young guy with potential, just like JHill. He is also a 7-footer, if I'm not mistaken. As long as we keep our core (AB, YAO, Battier, Martin, Scola) and the NY draft pick for next year, I think this trade is legit.
Iggy can help Brooks out,but despite his playmaking ability,he will still need the ball to score. Martin is more of an off the ball player, but I don't think that he will get too many opportunities with Iggy around. Iggy can dunk, his outside shooting is weak. I do like his defense though. If DM does acquire Iggy,Martin should be traded for a center.
A lineup of Brooks/Martin/Iguodala/Scola/Yao can beat a lineup of Fisher/Bryant/Artest/Gasol/Bynum. We could challenge the Lakers for the WCF. I hope this move happens before training camp.
Looking at conventional stats Iguodala is a bit overpaid, so we can look at this as a "salary dump" from Philly's point of view. However, look a little closer, and you will see that he is well worth the money. For the past few seasons he has been a 18-19 point scorer on 14-15 shots, which is pretty efficient, despite being surrounded by non-scorers/shooters. He is a decent rebounder for his position. And excellent facilitator. So far none of this justifies his salary yet. What sets him apart is what does not show up on the stat sheets. He is an ELITE man defender. In fact he was 3rd I think in PER differential for the past few years. While the gaudy steals totals are self evident, the high PER differential is because he absolutely shuts down his man. If Shane Battier was the "No Stats Allstar", then Iggy is the "No Stats Superstar" who has decent stats to boot. Add the fact that he lead the league in minutes played the past 6 years, and he more than earns his paycheck. And although I do advocate starting Lowry and selling high on Brooks(for a star), if we do decide to keep Brooks, Iggy would be the perfect running mate. Much like Roy, Joe Johnson, and the late Tmac would have been good fits next to him. A playmaking wing would absolutely open up AB's game, and Martin's game for that matter. This would definitely be an expensive allin type move, especially if we end up resigning AB eventually. But I think in the past week Les has proven that he is willing to spend for a legit shot at a title.
If this supposed deal does happen, I want all yall haters to lay off Les for being called a cheap owner. I think aquiring Iguodala would push us into luxury tax hell but if we only have to give up Ariza, Jeffries, and Hill, I think we are instant contenders who can challenge the Lakers.
Iggy is a freaking freight train, straight dunk machine. Guy actually had more dunks than Lebron last season and had the most for a guard(8th overall). He's elite at getting to the basket and finishing strong. I want him on this team!
Iggy is better as an SF,but we will need Martin as a chip for a center to complement/replace Yao. We can look for another SG via free agency.
So you'd give up our starting SG for a backup Center that may or may not replace Yao in the next couple of years? No thanks...
UGHH why did i look at the highlight mixes!!! i know they are just high lights, but damn He can get to the rack and finsish. i would not be upset at all if this deal went down, although i do think ariza will surprise some people next year alongside yao. As much as I want to love Hill, there is something about him that just does not feel right. he needs another 20 LBs so he doesnt get moved around so much in the post.
On the contrary, Morey is so high on Martin because he does not need the ball in his hands too much, his points per shot attempts #s are outstanding, thus I don't see his game suffering from adding Iggi. Also, the bigger concern is not whether Martin and Iggi can coexist together, but whether we have enough talent to take on the Lakers and the Heats of the NBA. Labron and Wade both need the ball in their hands yet it was not a concern pairing them up. The key here is to assemble as much talent as you can to try and match up with the big dogs. As to Iggi and Martin playing together, you leave that up to Rick.
Hill/Jeffries/Ariza for AI/Filler to make the trade work... wouldn't be against throwing in a pick of some sort to sweeten the deal. Pull the trigger on this... use the MLE to sign Brad Miller... play ball. PG: Brooks/Lowry SG: Martin/Budinger SF: AI/Battier PF: Scola/Hayes/Patterson C: Yao/Miller/Andersen That is CHAMPIONSHIP contending (barring another Yao injury... crossing fingers and toes the big fellah stays healthy). Every player brings something different to the table and I'd trust Adelman to use their talents to create matchup problems. HOWEVER, I could see Morey playing both Indiana and Philly and lowball them to land either Granger or Iggy... saving those NY picks as future trade chips. I don't think getting Granger is realistic until the trade deadline, but I'd rather get the player as soon as possible to have the entire season (and training camp) to gel and learn our system. Also a lineup of Lowry, AI, Battier, Hayes and Yao can score and play some nasty D.
We have too many players in our current roster anyways, and all of them are worthy of minutes. If they could switch Smith for a prospect player, then I'm all in for this deal. After, we're doing them a favor with a salary dump. Iggy is durable, you won't find a player as durable as he is (besides Dwight Howard).
