Yao/Hayes Scola/Patterson/Smith Iggy/Battier Martin/Budinger Brooks/Lowry No one can touch that, arguably better than Miami and deeper than Lakers. All-star in Yao, 4 near all-star level player in Brooks, Martin, Iggy, and Scola.
Great defender, pretty good versatile offensive guy (though not elite), extremely durable so far in his career. I think he's worth the money.
man if they offer this to us, we should accept because ariza is only a good defensive player, he can knock down the three but only if hes open and he can't create his own shot....plus he takes battiers spot in the line-up...i want Battier in the starting line-up
Wow, very surprised at the amount of people for this trade. With that said, I'm still on the fence, that's a lot of assets to give up... That Jason Smith guy is at least a 7 footer and could easily be Yao's backup (assuming the Brad Miller thing falls through).
Don't know about the credibility. Normally what you heard never materialized under Morey. But it would be a good deal for Rockets if that's true. Get the best players you can if you are trying to contend now. Saving money is for rebuilding teams and wanna-be teams. I wish Les spent more money when Yao/Tmac were both young and relatively healthy.
The question isn't whether Iggy is a better player than Ariza but rather who is a better fit on this team. Ariza is definitely a better fit because he's a solid defender with championship experience while Iggy needs the ball on a team that already has players that need the ball. I wouldn't do this trade in a million years. We need either a quality big, an upgrade at point, 2guard, or PF, or a Landry type player who can put 14 pts/game on the board coming off the bench. The Iggy time has passed for us.
it works for both teams. Sixers get a Ariza who would seem to fit their team more with Turner at the 2 and they get a good young prospect in J-Hill with JJ who plays good D at multiple positions(on an expiring contract too might I added). We get Iggy. nuff said. hope this 'insider' is legit.
I like Ariza, but Iggy is a solid defender too. He can have the ball as long as he make plays since both AB and Martin are real good at catch and shoot. It actually makes more sense for AB to start if Rockets have another ball handler.
Probably a modified form of the deal gets done if anything. Ariza, Lowry, and Andersen for Iggy, Smith and a future first.
Personally I'd rather try to fill the holes in the roster instead of trading position for position. Yes, he is better than Ariza but with all these long term contracts, the Rockets will have zero flexibilty for the next few years if they take on more long term money. If it happens, we are a better team probably, but it does it put us over the top, because if it doesn't, it's not worth it.
