I think that is giving up too much. I like the original proposal of Jeffries, Hill & Ariza better. Shane embodies the heart of the Rockets and, if we were to trade him, we could get more for him at the deadline. I do think Iggy is being shopped and will be traded. Phili is just trying to get more out of the deal, just as they backed out of the proposed trade at the last deadline. They are clearly over-valuing Iggy and not taking into account his large contract. They are foolish if they think they can get the best of a trade with Morey. If Phili doesn't pull the trigger on the proposed trade as stated at the beginning of this thread, Morey will look elsewhere to improve our team. I just wish that Phili wasn't being so irrational. They wont get a better offer than Ariza, Hill & Jeffries.
With Morey coming in and the lips of the entire Rockets front office sealed, where else are you going to get rumors?
So?? Nothing new?? Ariza for Arizas cousin who drives to the basket deal wasnt made? Basically the same player anyways. Ariza averaged 17 points on a winning team for half a season before we got Martin. I imagine his numbers would almost mirror Iggys if he is moved there. Hey they like that huge contract? Let them keep it. He would be a slight upgrade in our ability for a player to create on his own a little more and perhaps passing. Thats about it. Ariza plus Hill might be too much by itself. Ariza and two players plus a draft selection is alot to give up. They shouldnt do it unless it is 3 players Ariza Hill and maybe Jeffries? Thats still alot of our depth though. I would rather it be Battier, Hill, Jeffries and second round pick.
In the Artest and Martin trades it seems like Morey sniffed around those trades for a long time before striking a deal. If Andre really is on the market and the 76'ers want to take back some young assets then the Rockets should be able to get him.
Heres a recent interview of Sixers GM Ed Stefanski http://philadunkia.com/?p=2384 They might be interested in Battier?
Considering Doug Collins will want to coddle Turner and make him Roy version 2.0 I can see why Iguodala might be on the block. Iguodala as good as he is a ball-stopper. That's not a knock on him in any way cause I love his game but he needs the rock to be effective. There isn't enough room for both Turner and Iggy.
Not a real big fan but it could give us a little chance to clean up and save some some money at the same time. Andersen + Jeffries + Harris + Johnson = Kapono + Jason Smith. We pair down to 15. Kapono and Smith are both expirings. Plus it saves Les over 3 million which really is over 6 million with the LT. Then we realistically could trade our way under the LT (for the cost of a conditional 1st rounder). Even if we don't trade our way under the LT, it a $6,000,000+ savings by trading players 14, 15, 16 and 17 for players 14 and 15.
This has the same feel as Kevin Martin before he was traded. Older vet (Martin, Iggy) they want to see play alongside the new young stud (Evans, Turner). They insist they don' want to trade him and then one day, before you know it, bam deal done...Rockets add another key player
That trade does little in the way of getting the Rockets appreciably closer to the luxury tax threshold. Harris and Johnson both have non-guaranteed contracts, so there are no savings to be had by trading them. And the difference in the remaining salaries is only about $550k or so. That's a total savings to Les of about $1.1M. The Rockets are NOT getting below the tax threshold next season. Closer? Very possibly. But below? Not going to happen. Just embrace this fact early.
But there is a difference between Martin and IGGY, last year we were not in a all in year, and even with that, Martin and the team had a hard time making adjustments, even tho Martin already knew the system If we do this trade closer to the trade deadline, there is little time to the team and IGGy to gel, and because know we have bigger aspirations, the harm could be bigger At the trade deadline, we can do that big move to the likes of cp3, melo, or whatever, because that is improving the team big time, if we trade for IGGy the improvement is not as big, so the trade could be less impactfull, and the team can have a hard time making adjustments And I still have a hard time seeing we start the season with such a deep deep roster.... Do y´all think that there is going to be a trade before the 1st game of the season??? (can somebody ask GOD MOREY    ) PeAcE
