Three of those four things have minimal to negative value. Ariza's big contract and his failure to step up his offensive game to what was expected when he signed for all those dollars arguably give him negative value. I think everyone is starting to see that Hill isn't worth that much. And an expiring contract isn't worth anything until the deadline.

So, three crappy "assets" and a first round pick that may not even be lotto given how bad the east is, for an overpaid semi-star. Seems pretty fair if the semi-star is someone you want.

Come on, now, this is where we make rumors worse.

The Rockets already denied the Yao-first-to-months thing.

Seems to me the 76ers' organization is fishing around to see what value they can get for Iggy. When no one offers an All Star in return, they might just back off the idea. Iggy is as close as they get to a "name" on that roster, at least until Evan Turner proves himself in the NBA.

I agree, and it's good to see someone taking into account that one of our young players is likely to take it to the next level this year. My money's on Budinger.

Ariza is worth the MLE. He received the MLE. What did you expect, Melo?

I am not starting to see that Hill isn't worth that much. So, not everyone. What is JH worth? JH will determine that as he does or does not work to develop himself. Me? I'm optimistic that Hill will have a long career as a rotation-worthy big.

Knicks pick? Maybe they'll be pretty decent, 6th seed in the East? Maybe they'll finish 9th or so, and let's play LottoBall?

JJ? The man can D. He's not great, is overpaid tho on an expiring, and is an NBA worthy rosterite.

    Why the hate?

This does not help us. Iggy seems like the kind of guy who would disappear the playoffs.

who exactly is "Sixersfan1976" ? Is he some sort of insider of the Sixers? Similiar to Clutch or DocRocket?

I know we've been mentioned before in the Iggy sweepstakes but I have a hard time believing a hard headed GM like Stefanski will ever get it that Iggy will never be the go to guy on their team and will never mesh with Turner.

I hope this situation plays out like the Martin-Evans situation in Sac-Town.

He seems reasonably clutch to me... he's made some clutch shots and the last time he was in the playoffs he increased his regular season averages in points, rebounds, and assists.

Looks like Iggy might be off the market. This is what the supposed Sixers "insider" Sixersfan1976 just posted.

I seriously doubt Ariza/Jeffries/Hil will "bowl" them over.

I've wanted Iguodala on this team since the McGrady trade rumors involving him. I was disappointed after landing Martin (I preferred Iggy.. but then found out they rejected our offer), so I changed my sig to the one you see now.

Morey, please help me change my sig. Iguodala would make us an instant contenders -- just add water. To those of you who don't want him.. I don't have the time to argue.

He would be our best perimeter defender, TERRIFIC in transition, our best playmaking wing and he's a decent shooter. People are hating on him because he doesn't shoot 40% from downtown.. that's what Brooks and Martin are for! (cue worz grum coming in here telling us how Brooks is a sub 40% shooter from downtown [39.8%]). Iggy can create for himself or others and has shown the ability to win games in the final seconds of the playoffs. For those complaining that Martin can't finish games.. Iggy has shown he can. Brooks has shown he can. With the combination of the two, we should be set.

Ariza, Hill, 1st round pick and fillers for Iggy? Where do I sign? That would give us one of the most taleneted teams in the league.. instantly!

    Brooks/Lowry
    Martin/Budinger
    Iguodala/Battier
    Scola/Hayes/Patterson
    Yao/Miller

We could still use more shot blocking from our second unit, but with a team as talented as that, it's just nitpicking. This trade would be a dream come true for us -- we should all pray it happens.

I guess we go for CP3 now, or hope Turner and Iguodala have trouble working together

It looks like Philly's $10 million + over the salary cap. If we could help get them below that, it's a pretty big deal. Can they compete this season? If they think they can with Iggy, they might bite the bullet. Maybe, maybe no.

When I was very young, many times I really believed the grass was greener on the other side. As I matured (hopefully), I learned more often than not this is not the case.

What are people's fascinations with Melo, CP3? As far as I know they have been on pretty good teams (at least Melo recently), and gone NOWHERE FAST.

Going back to the Iggy trade, I would only do it to consolidate positions. Iggy is not worthy of a superstar "trade" treatment, especially at his salary.

I think hiring Doug Collins means the Sixers might feel like they can compete. That is why it is a stretch that they would trade their best player for cap relief and Ariza.

IMO, the hiring of Collins is a game changer and seriously puts the Iggy trade rumors on hold, for now. If Iggy gets moved, its gonna be at the deadline at 3:59 pm.

I feel like if you want to go all in, we need to aquire somebody before training camp starts so the team chemistry can still be intact.

It seems, especially with the signing of Miller, that we are trying to go " all in" this year. Trading for a star in the middle of the season and losing some valuable role players will seriously eff up our chemistry going into the playoffs, similiar to Jamison and the Cavs.

If we want Iggy, I think we might have to part with Battier instead of Ariza. Word is that Collins is in love with the guy and would kill to have him on his roster.

A Battier/Budinger/Hill/Jeffries plus 2012 NY pick might be too much for Iggy but I think that is the type of move that would "bowl" them over.

    I think a lineup of

    Holiday
    Turner
    Battier
    Brand
    Speights

might make the playoffs if Brand comes back healthy.

    Our lineup would consist of:

    Brooks/Lowry
    Martin/Taylor
    Iguodala/Ariza
    Scola/Patterson/Hayes
    Yao/Miller/Smith

pretty solid and we could challenge the Lakers. Our frontline is similiar to the Lakers and we would matchup well with them. Iguodala and Ariza would fustrate the hell out of Bryant and Martin and Brooks would be too quick for Fisher and Artest to guard.

Also the Lakers, IMO, have gotten worse. They re-signed Fisher and aquired Steve Blake. Two guards that Brooks had a field day against in the playoffs. Also they lost Jordan Farmar, the only legit guard that could shut down Brooks. Bryant and Artest have all gotten older as well. I just hope LA doesn't re-sign Shannon Brown though.

What I'm trying to say is, a Battier/Budinger/Jeffries/Hill for Iggy and SMith might be too much but it would be a win win for both ball clubs.

Also with this move, I think we would be the only team that could legitametly challenge and or knock the Lakers out of the playoffs.

Last time he was in the playoffs(09) he stepped up his game if you didn't know.
    22PPG
    0.449fg%
    0.393fg3%
    6.3rpg
    6.7apg<------
    1.8spg

Too bad he didn't have much help but the guy doesn't back down from the limelight. He rises to the the occassion. He would be great for us and I think he would fit this team much better than someone like Danny Granger cause he can create for others and for himself. Could run alone side AB and Martin since they're good spot up shooters and he could play off AB/Lowry ass well. I think if we got Granger he would take more shots away from Martin and AB(unless he's traded in the deal). There wouldn't be enough ball for the 3. And besides that, Granger would probably cost us AB not to mention he's not the better defender/creator that Iggy is. Iggy is what Morey was hoping Ariza would be for us.

    ... and I like Ariza :p

I think if we want Iggy, we might have to part with Battier instead of Ariza. Collins loves Battier and I think that would have to happen to pry Iggy from the Sixers. Also, with the signing of Collins, it looks like the Sixers want to make a push to the playoffs and a good locker room vet like Battier might help them out. Plus I think they are high on Turner and would want someone like Battier in the locker room to mentor him.

I think this trade makes sense for both ball clubs

Battier + Budinger + Jeffries + Hill for Iguodala + Green + Smith

    Brooks/Lowry
    Martin/Green/Taylor
    Iguodala/Ariza
    Scola/Patterson/Hayes
    Yao/Miller/Smith

We give them some youth with potentional and 2 solid vets that are good defenders and strong locker room presence. A mix of old and new.

They are asking for teams to get abused like Memphis in the Gasol trade. You can bet Morey isn't going to bite.
