Jamal Mashburn, 28 They had comments about the players 25 and under. here's what they listed for Steve: "He has a nose for the ball, like elders Payton and Kidd, but his athleticism alone puts him in their area code. The Rockets have contunally improved since he's taken leadership of the team (which he did with former superstars Hakeem Olajuwon and Charles Barkley in residence) His jumping ability allows him to attack the basket like few other people his size and he uses this fearlessness in every aspect of his game. Old school comparison: a young Tiny Archibald" Other old school comparisons: Iverson: Isiah Thomas + World B. Free Duncan: Walton + McHale on offense, Russell on D Bryant: Michael Jordan McGrady: Gervin on offense, Pippen on defense Garnett: David Robinson + Pippen Carter: Michael Jordan Marbury: Isiah Thomas + Joe Dumars Allen: Walt Frazier Nowitzki: Larry Bird minus passing skills Jamison: Bernard King Pierce: Mitch Richmond Odom: Magic Johnson Stojakovic: Jamaal Wilkes Marion: Dominique Wilkins on offense, Michael Cooper on D Walker: Tom Chambers ------------------
What's the word on our beloved Mobley? ------------------ Technically speaking, we're #1! ~Portland fans
By the way, it's an interesting list. Thanks! ------------------ Technically speaking, we're #1! ~Portland fans
Trade Cat. He is too old for this team. ------------------ "Break off the block like Maurice Green" --- Steve Francis President of the Moochie Norris fan club.
Damn, Francis3. How do you have so many post????? I can't wait to crack 1,000, then maybe I can get some respect. ------------------ "...Do you hear 'em? They're everywhere!!! AAAHHH!!!" That's what the other teams will be saying after being shellshocked by Steve Francis and Co.
FranchiseCat, Do you live in Houston? If so, there's no respect whatsoever! See the Rockets. There's no way Matt Bullard doesn't make the top 40 players ... I hate the media ... they didn't even include Sam I Am. [This message has been edited by Rocketability (edited June 01, 2001).]
Mobley at 39, thats an outrage! How in the hell is Penny hardaway, who didn't even play, ahead of Cuttino Mobley? ------------------
>>Rocketability<< Yes I live in Houston, I am not from here, but I got here as fast as I could. I am originally from a small town in Arizona (so, yes Phoenix is my #2 team in the NBA, but don't hold that against me). Yeah, Houston doesn't get the respect that they deserve, but that will change, trust me. I think Houston will get its just due when we host the Superbowl in 2004 (I think) and the Olympics in 2012. Somewhere between that time, the Rockets will be one of (if not the) most exciting teams in the NBA and with the world focusing on us during that time period will be great marketing for us. You are right about Bull (whom I met during business) and Sam "I am" Cassell. They both deserve to be top 40 for sure. ------------------ "...Do you hear 'em? They're everywhere!!! AAAHHH!!!" That's what the other teams will be saying after being shellshocked by Steve Francis and Co.
Robinson, Stockton, Mutombo ahead of Francis ------------------ President of the Steve Francis, Jamal Crawford,Larry Hughes, and Charles Woodson fan club.
I can see why they are comparing Bryant to Jordan, but not Carter to Jordan. Ive always pictured Carter being more like Dominique Wilkins. ------------------ "I would like to live forever, because we should not live forever, because if we were ever supposed to live forever, then we would live forever, but we cannot live forever, which is why I would not live forever." -Miss Alabama in the 1994 Miss Universe contest
I don't get how Dikembe Mutumbo is ranked higher than Francis. Mutumbo has no offensive game at all. Have any of you guys seen his hook shot? It's horrible! And what about Grant Hill being ahead of Franchise? Hill only played 4 games this season. ------------------ Houston Chronicle: He sat with his teammate and buddy Cuttino Mobley in Philly and they talked about how they had whipped the Sixers and Pacers by about 30 each this season. "Smacked the ... out of them," he said. "We have the talent." [This message has been edited by themoandfroshow (edited June 01, 2001).]
Francis should have been 15th. ------------------ The Protrolls.com message boards! Protrolls.com! And his ghost can be heard as you pass by that billabong: "All I did was steal a bloody sheep!"
Hell, I can't believe Marion's that low on that list. ------------------ "Light travels faster than sound, so some people appear to be bright until you hear them speak." -- Brian Williams (now Bison Dele) commenting on Isiah Thomas.
T-Mac has had 1 good year and already he's God . Sheesh , Yeah cant wait to see him next year with A.D. and Hill . ------------------
T-Mac has had 1 good year and already he's God moestavern19 I was just about to say that about McGrady. Last year everyone thought he played second fiddle to carter and now he's ranked higher than him. His mama was right. ------------------ [This message has been edited by sabirk (edited June 01, 2001).]
ROCKETBOOSTER- Exactly what I was thinking...how is Penny Hardaway, who has not played in 2 years, even on that list? There is no way to know if he will ever play as well as he once did. ------------------ Now saw off...there's nothing to see here.
WTF is Mutombo and Ratliff doing on there? They arent even top 100. Cat is better than either of them... Steve is top 15 easily. Now we know why nobody reads that magazine... ------------------ Go Rockets!!! SS
