    I recall him coming to prominence as the first openly gay mayor of San Francisco. Apparently we are all expected to just forget that now?

    Also, you guys thought it was pretty neat to see Mayor Pete up on stage swapping spit with another man. These identity politics markers typically do matter to you folks. Certainly when it is a black person, or a woman, or a LGBT*&%#$#$% or whatever. And if you can find one with all three, then touchdown!

    Or, maybe you are leaking some breaking news here today. Are you guys on the verge of finally ditching your obsessive and counterproductive emphasis on these identity politics characteristics?

    Yeah, the other slam on him was alleged coccaine use and checking into rehab. The former is unproven but widely rumored in SF and the latter he denies getting treatment for alcoholism.

    But he's good looking enough for Chappelle to call him Bruce Wayne, his wife is still smokin, and the states still drawing budget surpluses.

    Throw in a golden retriever and an adopted kid from the Global South, and he's made for the primaries, baby.

    I have no idea about the coke allegations truth or not, but his ex-wife and her current love interest Trump junior seem to have a strong love the nose candy.

    It is still to early, but Newsom looks like a real possibility for the nomination by the Democrats this time.

    Of course, queue the ads about the steady migration of businesses and people moving out of California. And also the piles of poop and used syringes on the sidewalks of San Francisco and other California landmarks. And then the crime and the corruption of the DAs offices and the betrayal of the police departments, to the detriment primarily of the less privileged, lower income communities.

    A lot of people may think all of that is pretty cool stuff in the large metro areas in California, New York, Illinois, etc. But pretty much everywhere else, probably not so much.

    Here is one piece of what Newsom is going to have to run on:

    Sacramento's homeless population soars by 67% in three years and is now HIGHER than San Francisco while robbery rockets 42% and rapes nearly double amid drug taking epidemic
    • Sacramento has a little over 5,000 homeless in the city limits living in vehicles and tents. That's slightly higher than the 4,400 in San Francisco
    • However, the number becomes more stark when factoring in the city's population numbers - only 525,000 people live in Sacramento versus San Francisco's 874,000
    • Local Democrats blame the surge on a lack of affordable housing, but other experts say it's down to drugs
    • Sacramento DA Anne Marie Schubert says the problem is on drug abuse and a mental health crisis
    • She is running as an independent for California Attorney General

    Newsom is positioning with Kamala to be that California candidate.

    He'll likely have visibility even in 28 since he's a photogenic white guy who looks presidential that Americans have flocked to since time immemorial.

    He's such a massive douche though.

    Give me Fetterman. Proven character guy who isn't afraid to stand up for what he believes in. Big scary workingman type that I would have a beer with. Hot foreign wife that would appeal to minorities Edit: His wife, who is from Brazil, will give him some appeal to the Latino voters. And she's an attractive person, which is a bonus.
