here's the post i replied to: The reason I say the Texans will win before the Astros has nothing to do where the teams are at right now but everything to do with the fact the Astros are not good enough at this point and IMO the Texans organization has better structure from the owner on down for long term success.
Well to answer the question again I would go nuts for either the Rockets/Astros/Texans anything else that has Houston infront of it makes me happy but nothing comes close to the three major sports
There's a whole lot more to a player than batting average; in fact, it's not all that relevant. Bottom line with Ensberg is that you're talking about someone who has posted a .945 and .859 OPS his last two seasons, averaging around .900, or roughly what Scott Rolen would give you. If that's average, I don't want to know what standards you're using. And bench, average to above average? We're talking about the bench with Mike Lamb (a starter for most teams and versatile), two high-contact and high OBP guys in Loretta and Palmeiro, and either Lane or Hidalgo, two guys who have proven to be huge power threats at the MLB level. On what planet is that even remotely average for a bench? The Astros bench, per usual, will be among the NL's best. As for power rankings, who cares what a few suits in on the East Coast think? The last time the Astros were ranked slightly above 20 in preseason power rankings was before the 2005 season. Remember what happened then?
the usual - drinking and partying, setting things on fire, throwing stuff at hobos... you know.... the usual.
Man I would go nuts and just sit there in total glee! I can't believe it's been over 10 years since the Rockets won their rings, I still remember the parades!
I'd drive down Richmond with my window down, my pinky finger up in the air yelling, "OOOOOHHHH YEEEEEAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!" like the Macho Man, Randy Savage.
i totally misunderstood your post. i just read it again and it was like i was reading it for the first time. i'm losing my mind.
Without starting a new thread I think we should rank how much a championship would mean by any of our favorite sports teams. If you have trouble deciding then consider this senario: If you had 1 winng championship season to wish upon any sports team who would get it. If you had 2 who would get it. 3,4, 5 etc.... Which Championship would mean more to you. 1) Rockets 2) Texas Longhorns Football 3) Houston Astros 4) Texas Longhorns Basketball 5) Argentina in the World Cup 6) Bolivia in the World Cup 7) Elsik Rams Highschool football state championship 8) Tennese Titans (at least while VY is there) 9) Any Lady Longhorns team. Softball, basketball, Lacrose 10) Houston Texans.
1) Astros 2) Rockets 3) Texans 4) University of Missouri football or men's basketball 5) University of Texas football or men's basketball 6) Spurs (at least while Duncan is there) That's about it for me, I think.
1) Astros 2) Texans 3) Rockets (only because we've won one before) 4) SWT Football 5) Longhorn Basketball 6) Longhorn Football 7) Longhorn Baseball 8) U.S. World Cup 9) Katy High School Football 10) Dynamo MLS
1) Texans (Superbowl? Regain that Oiler day glories?) 2) Astros (never won one but close) 3) Rockets (My favorite of all, but the other teams have not one the big one yet) 4) UH anything (I have never seen them win during my time) 5) Dynamo (Fun game to watch, only other major sport I can think of)
1.Rockets 2.Texans (I would put this in a tie with the Astros but football is far more important in the US) 3.Astros 4.UH basketball (this goes before UH football because of the close misses) 5.UH football 6.USA World Cup 7.Greek basketball gold metalwc 8.USA basketball gold metal/wc 9.Greek World Cup 10.Dynamo
1. rockets/astros - can't choose between them 2. texans 3. uh basketball/football 4. dallas losing in anything.
Stros . . . Rox US World Cup Texans Horns football Rice Baseball Horns Basketball Horns Baseball Poland WC UH Hoops or Football
Astros Major League Champions Texans Super Bowl Champs Rockets NBA Champions Mexico World Cup Champs Dynamo MLS Cup Champs Aeros Stanley Cup (yes, freakers, Stanley) Comets WNBA Champs Cougars (any sport) National Champs Rice National Champs (football only)
1) US MNT World Cup 1a) Astros World series championship These 2 things are on equal footing for me. In the case of the Astros, I would make plans to be in Houston for any clinching game (as I did in 2005 but never got to go for obvious reasons). 2) Rockets 3) Texans 4) Anything for Sam Houston State 5) Dynamo 6) Anything for UT
