I hope that you are right, I'm fed up with having mediocore teams in this city. What's wrong with wanting to win now? :(

What were you expecting to happen... honestly? There was only so much we could do, and imho, we're in a pretty damn good spot right now.

I really don't believe we've had mediocre teams here in Houston. The Rockets last year, where you even alive? That was amazing. We've been to the playoffs so many times but how many times were the superstars of McGrady and Yao in there?

If you really wanna say Houston, the Texans are finally hitting their stride...pay attention.

Astros, ever since 2005...yes they've gone downhill no world series but so many playoff appearances before then.

You're just upset that Tmac is gone. We may not have a kobe or lebron, but we don't need them, because unlike teams realiant on one personn, we have a TEAM or really good players. Not one messanic player.

Do you see this team competing for a championship in the near future?

----Reaching the Western Conference Finals is not in our future ----

Hard to say...it's possible. Can we win the West or put up a great series against the Lakers or Nuggets . . . only if Yao is healthy.

We have a shot at the playoffs, but I can't see how we are getting into the 2nd round, especially when we are going to probably be match-up against the Lakers, Mavs, or Nuggets. We'd have to reach 4th or 5th seed, I believe.

This feels like lukewarm trade, where team does get better, but not by much. We're pretty strapped for cash, next year, unless Yao terminates his contract and decides to go elsewhere.

I think our chances of reaching the second round went up a lot with this trade.

Losing Landry when you have scola backing him up isn't as a big of a loss as the gain from picking up K-mart.

The question on how good this team will be this year is how much this Jordan Hill guy can develop. He's not been impressive thus far as a knick but apparently Morey thinks he will develop into something.

As for next year, again, it depends on so many variables.

If Hill develops into a good power forward and Yao is healthy, all of a sudden we have front court height. You had to that mix Ariza, K-mart, and Brooks, and you really do have a very competitive starting five that could get into the WCF.

I don't think it's a contender, but it sure beats being first or second round fodder.

As opposed to this trade when we had....well even less. Morey built set us up for success today and tomorrow.

I wouldn't go as far as to say that we should trade Yao but this guy does raise an important point about MeMac & Martin and that's the fact of their checkered injury history. Unless Martin can demonstrate that he can stay healthy, all Morey will have done is rearrange deck chairs on the hospital ship. At best this also strikes me as a lukewarm trade that was intended more to jettison MeMac than to really improve the long term chances of the Rox.

Funny. When they traded for SheMac, they got a completely worthless player back in Reece Gaines (who?) who did zip for them. Now they trade SheMac and get back Jared Jeffries who I feel is equally as worthless. It's nice to know that where the Rockets are concerned, the more things change, the more the stay the same. You really have to appreciate the symmetry at work here especially since they also get back Kenny Thomas who they traded away in order to clear the decks so Eddie Griffin could be "The Man".
