This is from an article I found on ESPN.com today....It's the notes taken from an article about the best defensive players in the country.

Would UT keep Davis in place to hold on to a top recruit, or no? Oh, and by the way, is it not SICK that this QB had 9 TOUCHDOWNS in the first half of a game recently, with one coming on a punt return? Who the hell lets their nationally ranked QB return punts, and if he can do so for TD's, then DAMN he's an athlete!

"Speaking of potential turnover, expect Mack Brown to have to fire or at least re-assign Texas offensive coordinator Greg Davis, one of Brown's closest buddies. UT's offense has struggled mightily in big games, especially against OU and Longhorn QB Vince Young hasn't improved much, if at all, as a passer. (One rival coach we spoke to says his mechanics are still sorely lacking and "just as bad as they were when he was in high school.")

But Davis got an interesting vote of confidence last week-from Ryan Perrilloux, who just so happens to be one of the nation's top college quarterback prospects and has committed to UT. The rocket-armed Louisianan, probably the second-best QB recruit (behind USC verbal Mark Sanchez) in America, said that he would seriously reconsider his commitment to Texas if Davis were fired after the season.

Perilloux, by the way, amassed a staggering nine first-half touchdowns in his game last weekend, throwing for seven, running for another and returning a punt for another.

so get him to committ, sign him up, then fire Davis' ass (or both).

something has to change if UT is ever gonna live up to their potential. this is starting to get ridiculous.

That's great and all...Ryan Perriloux has some out of this world potential. He's got a cannon(And uses it to pile up yards by the bundle) and he's a great runner, but the three best players I've seen at the high school level were Reggie McNeal, Adrian Peterson, and, the best, Vincent Young. Why will RP be any different from Vince? Simms? Roy(I know he's absolutely tearing it up for the Lions, but that only goes to show you how underutilized he was by the Longhorns)?

I'll take a 3-star recruit out of nowhere, Texas over RP 7 days a week, if it means a change at OC.

RIET, I concur. Greg Davis is, indeed, the devil. He's taken a #1 recruit, a guy brimming with talent, and has actually caused him to regress. Vince's run during the 5A state playoffs was nothing short of amazing. With any defense at all, that team goes all the way. Absolutely the best player I've seen at the high school level. As far as arm strength(And as a high school senior, even pass accuracy) and running ability go, Vince was every bit the prospect that Michael Vick was. There's still hope that he realizes his potential, but I guarantee it won't happen if Greg Davis is still here.

I hope GD is fired this offseason. Nothing short of Earl Campbell's return to college football should prevent UT from making necessary coaching changes, especially one recruit, no matter how talented he is.

Greg Davis is the DeViL. Dan Micelli is the DeViL's twin brother.
