Personally I don't think RB is that big of an issue with this team at this point. As we've seen over the second half of the season, now that our O-line is beginning to get the zone-blocking scheme right, any decent running back should be able to plug in and churn out yardage (this is the same scheme that regularly turns out 1000-yard rushers in Denver). We should have Domanick returning next season, and Ron Dayne will likely re-sign. Then we have Chris Taylor who looks to be even better than Wali. One of those two will probably be released or traded after the next preseason. I'd rather spend the #8 pick getting a big-play shutdown type cornerback. Otherwise get an offensive tackle or guard. There are things we can do with that pick that will have a far bigger impact on our chances of winning games than waste it on yet another RB.
eh, running back is a pretty big issue with the Texans. Especially considering the question mark around the quarterback position. The running game is going to have to really produce - and Ron Dayne, Domanick Williams and whoever else is a nightmare of a running back lineup. A couple decent performances against absolutely terrible defenses shouldn't hide what is a major deficiency.
If the line is good enough to block for Ron friggin Dayne, they are good enuf to block for Carr. Its always good to bolster the line...but I dont think thats the main issue. They need a RB and QB...the latter perhaps thru a trade or free agency.
pass blocking and run blocking are two entirely different skillsets. the texans' final five opponents ranked 30th, 25th, 5th, 32nd and 29th against the run this year. and the bulk of dayne's yards against NE (5th) came on a single drive. so yeah, the line is still a big concern.
i don't think we can get AP w/ the 8th pick...so how about trying to get michael bush w/ our 2nd or 3rd round pick, i think thats where they are predicting him....
