CREDIT GIVEN. But don't tell me he would avoid criticism by being black. It ridiculous no matter who says it.
To be honest, he would avoid criticism by being black IN Basketball, just like there are racial biases 'against' blacks in the corporate world that isn't right. Or perhaps Melo just didn't want his limelight/Knicks success to be shared with Lin and really wanted him out despite what he may on the surface. Will never know. But we've never heard Cato, Kwame or any other player called out by NBA players, let alone their teammates, for a contract. That's usually done by fans and commentators.
Come on, guys. What do you expect him to say? "Yeah, honestly, I'm a big downgrade. Sucks for Knicks fans LOLOLOLLL!!!!" What he said was not at all controversial. This is the "Eli is elite" nonsense all over again.
We also haven't heard anybody speak up against Asik's contract, which is based on two seasons of back-up spot minutes work.
its not ridiuclous. its the truth. no matter how politically correct & purposely naive you try to be. human beings have built in prejudices that they act on consciously or subconsciously. humans are tribal by nature.
using melo as an example c'mon man .. melo should go out and score 38 every night with what he get's paid...of course that's not a huge story. I think the biggest element that caused Linsanity is the underdog aspect.Part of that may be that he was asian,no doubt, but if Dragic would have been the one waived and done in NY what Lin did ,I guarantee you the hype would still have been huge.Everything is magnified in the NY fishbowl.
Sounds like you have an issue with Carmelo, if so fine. Maybe it's something personal between he & Lin. But to automatically assume it's racially motivated is a stretch. To say he would avoid criticism by being black is a bigger stretch. Just take Lebron, being black hasn't protected Lebron from being one of the most hated figures in the history of the NBA. Maybe if Lebron was black Dan Gilbert wouldn't have blasted his a$$ publicly on his way out of Cleveland. (Clearly that was personal) Maybe you should ask Chris Rock what he thinks?
i could care less about melo. lebron was hated on for the decision which was utterly the most misguided & conceited act by a star of that magnitude. if lebron was white & he did the same exact thing he would receive the same amount of vitriol again, humans are tribal by nature & have built in prejudices, consciously & subconsciously. you cannot deny this.
So Lebron didn't avoid criticism by simply being black? Imagine that. Be sure to run this by Chris Rock.
Lol. So if the Suns and Rockets face off in the western conference finals... who are you going to root for?
Yeah, nothing he said was out of line. He's incorrect, but as a player he's just being confident. He also says he's better than any pg, not just Lin.
Rockets all the way!!! I became a fan of the NBA back when I was in elementary school. I live out here in San Diego where we dont have a NBA team. My family was all Laker fans. For some reason I just absolutely hated the Lakers from an early age. Instead I became fans of players. My favorite player was Barkley and 2nd was the Dream. It was a dream come true for me when my two favorite players all ended up on the Rockets. From that point on I just became a Rockets fan but still follow the Suns also.
