I do come in and think that I'm the best poster on the board, and if you ask me, I'll tell you that. Clutch and B-Bob are good, its just how I approach things ( captioned title - Shroopy2: "I'm BETTER THAN CLUTCH" )
So your ONLY beef is with the Jeremy Lin signing? Correct? You are not here to troll? You are a Rockets fan is what you are saying? Hey, everybody is entitled to their opinions, just tired or reading "trolls" that come on here to start trash us. However, if you are legit...then cool. Whatever.
Can't the mods just ban him by now? Dude is a class A moron and just asterisked our two championships.
felton has had more experience and i would say he's better at this point. but i think lin will learn quickly and will actually work incredibly hard at his game.
All this fuss for nothing... It's pretty clear. Felton is a known quantity. His stats were high in NY, and I would be shocked if he matched those numbers again. It's more likely he'll meet his career numbers again, and if he gets in shape, he should play well. Lin is an unknown quantity and the Rockets took a chance on him. If he doesn't improve, it's likely he'll be an above-average guy, but not more. I think you would say average or less, but that is just guesswork since there are a lot of variables that will affect it, including: --Offensive system --His health --How much he is used I don't get what the big deal is, and what the taunting is for??
The love for Lin amongst underdogs and minorities is pretty blinding because they finally feel they can relate to someone, rather than appreciating his game itself. That's the telling sign of mediocrity. Let's all just relax and watch how he does now that teams will scout him. Defending his internet honor isn't going to make him a better player.
Chris Rock is telling another joke here. So if JR Smith or Carmelo had scored 38 points against the Lakers (Chris Rock's example ) would it be SMITHSANITY? or MELOSANITY? Don't think so. What's new about some black kid (again Chris Rock's example) scoring 38 points in an NBA game? If anything the guy has benefited from being asian (not being white or black). Nothing against Lin it's just the truth. To say people are hating on his money because he isn't black is laughable no matter who's mouth it spews out of. At the end of the day, I hope Lin plays his a$$ off here & we're able to do something significant because I'm a Rox fan. 1 playoff series win in 15 years is all I care about.
Joke right? Your whole existence on this board has been to bash Jeremy Lin. Show me your posts on our rookies? Summer league analysis? Morey/les/McHale/Asik? Our outgoing players? Any posts in appreciation of Scola/Lee/Lowry? And trade breakdowns? It has been ALL JEREMY LIN bashing.
Quit trying to have a rational conversation with Sigmund. He's just going to reply with "Lin can't go left. I prefer Fortson over Lin and Dragic is King."
More like Lin is a bigger draw for fair weather fans and "fans" who want to be in the water cooler sports conversation but really don't know **** about sports. I don't think players will be yearning to play with Lin. Melo and J.R. Smith talking trash and T. Chandler saying everything about Lin has been a "surprise." Sounds like a backhanded compliment. His former teammates don't even want him around.
But he pretty much did say that by saying that he thinks he's better than any other point guard. Better than Paul, Williams, Rose, Rondo, Westbrook... I don't understand it. Someone else said that you need to think like this to get better. But isn't it the other way around? I see no downside in an average point guard acknowledging that Chris Paul is better. Becoming the best should provide more motivation than being the best, on the face of it. Looking at his production over the years, Felton, by believing to be the best, does seem to be content in staying "the best".
I haven't read any other posts to see if anyone has responded quantitatively, but I think that's a poor comparison to compare Felton's Knicks numbers to Lin's numbers - even though it was more games. Felton's numbers were NOT better than Lin's. The only argument you have is the amount of games. Take this into consideration, before Felton was traded for Carmelo in that deal, he was the second scoring leader averaging 17.1 points, 9 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 1.8 steals on that team behind Amare - the reason being because of the pick and roll. Also he averaged 38.4 minutes a game. He didn't have to play with Carmelo who ALWAYS has to have the ball in his hands, nor did he have to play with Chandler. With Lin, he averaged, 14.6 points, 6.2 assists, 1.6 steals and 3.1 rebounds on only 26.9 minutes per game. If you were to average that out based on the number of minutes Felton played he would have averaged 20.8 points, 8.8 assists, 2.28 steals, and 4.4 rebounds a game. And Lin had to play with Carmelo, Chandler and Amare, albeit not all the games he played included all those players. So for you to say that Felton's Knicks numbers were better than Lin's was based off a poor analysis because you didn't take into consideration other factors as well.
Partly true for sure, but also the context. Harvard background, never received basketball scholarship, undrafted out of Ivy League, cut twice, on the verge of being cut again, comes in and averages for first 7 starts for a PG the best since NBA/ABA merger, team in biggest sports market with two supposed superstars (and a defensive player of the year to be), one of yhe biggest payrolls, with a losing record, dysfunctional, head coach (good rnough to be assistant of the US Men's baskrtball team) about to be fired, and immediately produces both nUmbers and wins which were critical to the Knicks getting a playoff berth. Give credit where it is due.
I don't know why it's unfathomable. But we're not going to convince each other, and I don't even mean to try. Just offering up my take on it. But let me ask, when was the last time you heard a current player call out another player's contract? Not to mention someone who was a possible returning teammate. No matter the reason, I think most would agree there is a clear lack of respect by Melo & JR for Lin on a personal level not just a basketball level.
