So NFL and Ravens are going to pretend they didn't see this already? Even though there were multiple reports from people like Peter King, that said they did.
While this one event was bad, this is an overreaction by the Ravens. Rice has been a model citizen (as for as I know) and firing him for one thing is taking things too far. Surely his 3.1 yards/attempt played a role.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Roger Goodell has announced that based on new video evidence that became available today he has indefinitely suspended Ray Rice.</p>— Greg Aiello (@gregaiello) <a href="https://twitter.com/gregaiello/status/509048887617654785">September 8, 2014</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
NFL Lawyer: A player got arrested for poppin' Mollie Goddell: Two game suspension NFL Lawyer: "Mollie" is a drug Goddell: Okay, four games
Good, now JJ can eat him. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/CsVBlwMQc-c" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
So now that new "video evidence" became available NOW we can suspend him and terminate his contract. Exactly what changed today? We knew from his own admission what he did. We had video evidence of her knocked out cold many months ago. The only thing that has changed is the NFL was being pummeled for excusing his behavior and was facing huge backlash. (i.e. The money gravy train was being threatened). NOW suddenly this is a big problem. I see you working NFL.
Total BS. Shame on Goodell and the Ravens. They are flat out liars saying this was new video evidence. They had this video and they CHOSE to let him continue his career with a meager 2 game suspension, and the Ravens in particular chose to help him put on a disgusting press conference in which blame was partially put on the fiance to try to quell public outcry. I will never root for the Ravens to win a single game again.
To the poster who said we don't have enough evidence to say he's a bad person and not someone who just made a bad decision, dude, come on. He knocked the hell out of her, twice. Then he stood around like nothing and dragged her body out of the elevator like it was a heavy bag of garbage. Worse? He put on a charade of a press conference where this woman he "loves" took blame for the incident. He's an abuser. He may be otherwise a good person, I have no idea, but he has an issue with women. No "good person" does that to a woman and then lets her take the blame to try to ease the public backlash.
No, no credit to the Ravens. No one initially did the right thing. Not the NFL, not the Ravens, no one. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p><a href="https://twitter.com/Ian_OConnor">@Ian_OConnor</a> The Ravens did the PR thing.
