Not bad but I think Butler and Pierce would be redundant. They're both SFs with somewhat similar games. What Boston needs is a sharp shooter type SG to take Allen's place. Boston should try to get Richard Hamilton from Detroit. He'd be a perfect fit for the Celtics and Dumars may be interested in getting a big expiring contract back.
What if Buddinger was the deal breaker for the Celtics? Then the Wiz can have their pick of Walker, Daniels, or Hou...nvm not House.3 Haywood/Hayes/Andersen Scola/Landry Battier/Ariza Allen/that other two guard rookie in the d league Brooks/Lowry
I've sort have posted this everywhere but I like my idea that much so...sorry. Houston gets: Ray Allen Andre Igoudala Boston gets: Shane Battier Samuel Dalembert Philly gets: Tracy McGrady If we're lucky Morey will use his Jedi mind tricks and pry Speights away from Philly while he's at it. This summer let Cook's 3mil, Allen's 18mil, and Lowry's 4mil expire with not having to pay Battier's 7mil next season and go for Joe Johnson and resign Scola for cheap (hopefully). If not, no big deal.
Tmac and Battier goes, but we would probably need to throw in either a PG or a PF at this point for that trade to be even considered... I'd throw in the PG at this point because Iggy is a playmaker
The salaries don't match. It would have to be Battier/Ariza/Cook for Allen. An acknowledgment that we're tanking, but with Allen and McGrady's expiring contracts combined we actually do have the salary cap flexibility to go after LeBron or D-wade and we can use the exception on a reasonable 3rd option type guy too. Plus we can get a nice draft pick or trade it. Yao Scola Richard Jefferson*for example LeBron Brooks
More than that it makes no sense for Boston. Sammy with trade kicker is probably around 14 million, while Battier makes 7 mill. They might actually end up taking more salary this season, and even if they get capspace in a couple of years they'll still be capped out due to KG, Pierce.
Why would we give up a good young prospect in Budinger to swap McGrady's expiring contract for two other expiring contracts? That's a horrible trade.
To save THIS season. Only reason. Otherwise, our ceiling is one and done in the playoffs...if we make the playoffs and do not get bounced out 1st.
I apologize for the double post. At least our guys will have some experience when Yao comes back. That is a plus.
plus if you trade T-mac and Bud straight up for Allen we get under the tax by a couple million. this would be a last ditch effort.
Can someone post the ESPN insider article "Amare: Staying or going?". It's right next to this Ray Allen rumor. I didn't want to start a thread just for this.
I really doubt management would think it's worth giving up Budinger for the possibility of being first round fodder this year.
Love the player, but he's getting long in the tooth. He could be about to start a real downhill slide. The Rockets don't have Yao this year. I don't see them making a move for Allen.
I like your plan, but I don't really see much in it for Boston. They'd have to feel they were really improving the team, not just shaking it up a little, and I doubt they would be.
He isn't the guy who will take it to the basket strong and get to the free throw line. He is getting up their age so it is not someone I would want to rely on in the future. Not worth getting him.
Could've just been having a bad day but I think it was Sunday vs the Lakers, his numbers weren't that great: 2-10, 0-6 on 3 pters! Those are TA1 numbers. 6-13, 2-5 3pters, 17 pts last night.
