Disagree. Front offices around the league have made countless promises to free agents. Lin is poor example, as he was inked to a deal well before Harden & Howard joined the roster. Ironically, the Rockets did promise Howard a featured role in the post (something he and Fegan leveraged for in negotiations). We have evidence to conclude that this promise was kept by McHale and the coaching staff last season. Not always with desired results, I might add. At the end of the day, Ray Allen is well aware of the existing makeup of the Cavs roster -- especially with players armed with redundant skill sets (Mike Miller & James Jones) as he has. OTOH, Jeremy Lin was signed in a moment of desperation after losing both Lowry (trade for assets to acquire Harden) and Dragic (lost in free agency due to 4th yr player option). The scenarios are not comparable whatsoever.
Can we just ****ing hurry up and sign someone who isn't irrelevant. This off season has been full of miss opportunity!! We don't land Bosh, we've sign former rockets! Not one not two but three former rockets! Granted one of those I'm happy with but when you have the likes of Lance Stevenson signing for only 9 mil and other good players signing for chump change it turns my stomach because Houston is no where to be found!!! I hope this isn't a sign of settling for whatever this year in hopes of a contending season thereafter!!!
I think they've learned the opposite due to the beginning of the free agency. Its think negative and maybe positive will happen.
I really thought that when we got Dwight and Harden, Free Agents would be drooling yo sign with us, but its actually the opposite.. Every Free Agent/ of value that the Rockets have been linked to do not/or have not signed with us. Morey seems to do better with the names that we are not linked to or players we dont want to be linked to.. Lebron (linked to Failed Bosh (Linked to - Failed Melo (Linked to - Failed Mike Miller- (Linked to) Failed Birdman (Linked to) Failed Paul Pierce (Linked to) Failed Deng(Linked to) Failed Joey dorsey (Out of nowhere)- singed Adrien (out of nowhere)- signed
That's a very black look at things. There is plenty of other ways to look at it, including: - Lebron was only going to Miami or Cleveland. - Bosh: We were clearly the runner up. Failed because we didn't have a fifth year to offer him. - Melo: We were in the top 5. No one is surprised he went with the money and stayed in the city he and his family loves. - Mike Miller: No surprise that he went with LBJ. - Birdman: Made more money than we were willing to give him - Paul Pierce and Deng: We went with Ariza instead.
Any other sources? I'm not sure I trust a website that sounds like it could be the name of a themepark.
