Looks horribly overwrought, and the actresses are too old for the characters they play.

    Saw a few recently...

Solitary Man - Michael Douglas plays... well, himself, mildly entertaining.

City Island - Very good small film with Andy Garcia and Julianna Margulies. Definitely recommend.

Prince of Persia - What crap, horrible even for a Disney action film.

Date Night - Much better than I anticipated, some laughs... reminded me of Adventures in Babysitting, the adult version.

The Ghost Writer - On the surface this looked like a really stale movie to me but it turned out much better than I anticipated, there's a nice twist at the end. It is a Roman Polanski film so boycott as necessary.

The Losers - Fun action film, I didn't hear a thing about this at the theaters so I was surprised how entertaining it turned out to be.

Very fun movie. I think I may have liked it better than Expendables, in that, in addition to some fun action, it actually had decent performances and good chemistry among the leads. Nothing was really forced. You knew where the story was going but it didn't have the cheesiness that accompanied Stallone's film. And the action was decent. Malkovich was awesome in his role.

    7/10

And it was hard to tell which preview was worse, the Nicholas Cage comic book-esque movie in which he plays a character from Hell that looks like any of the other half-dozen flicks he's done recently or the Tony Scott helmed, Denzel and Chris Pine starring Speed ripoff featuring a runaway train. At least the train movie had Tony Scott's typical cinematic style.

I've seen a few recently that were really good:

The Road - Cormac McCarthy book made into a really compelling post apoclyptic story of a man's love of his son.

Into the Wild - Sean Penn directed this movie based on Jon Krakauers book, odd rebellious kid goes off into the Alaskan wilderness and makes one simple but fatal mistake.

The Social Network - story of Facebook, super acting and writing. Driven by coolness and revenge on a girl.

Frozen - three likeable young people finagle their way onto chairlifts after the ski resort is closing for the week. Bad move, and brrrrr. It will make you think of the movie Open Water.

btw, I am looking forward to seeing Let Me In.

I almost bought Frozen the other day on blu ray, but skipped on it at the last moment. I thought it looked interesting.
As for Let Me In...I loved Let The Right One In, a lot, so still not sure if I want to see the American take.

I probably wouldn't have seen this had my wife not read the book (called "The Ghost"). We rented it "on demand" last Friday and I absolutely loved it. Really good movie, and the last 3 minutes or so was just perfectly executed. Really good flick. 8.5/10

It's a very good remake but still totally unneccesary, outside of a few minor details it's almost identical so I wouldn't call it required viewing or anything.

Just picked up 'The Exorcist' on freaking Bluray and let me tell you... The remastered transfer looks like it was shot yesterday!!! It looks so freaking good on HD, and so many supplements included on the disc like documentary, the behind the scenes footage of the actual location as they were shooting it on set.. Freaking amazing looking, pick this up for Halloween..

Hot Tub Time Machine - 8/10. My expectations were low. I laughed out loud quite a few times. Obviously a mindless movie, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

Iron Man 2 - 5/10. My expectations were too high after the first one. Some of the story was good, but most of the characters were weak. Pretty poorly written in my opinion.

Me and You and Everyone we Know - 7/10. Not for everyone, but the characters were well done and the movie had some interesting perspectives on modern culture in America. There are parts that are a little disturbing, but that usually makes a film more interesting.

I despised Hot Tub Time Machine. It was trying hard to be The Hangover. I hated that kid and I hated the ******* guy. Jokes were absolutely freaking terrible.

The A-Team - Over the top and awesome. If you're expecting Citizen Cane, you'll be disappointed. If you're expecting lots of awesome action and explodey-stuff, it delivers. And Jessica Biel is hot. For what it is: 8/10. As a film/movie: 5/10.

Fair Game - I'll give it an 8. Really excellent performances by Naomi Watts and Sean Penn as Valerie Plame and Joe Wilson. Yes, it's about the Plame Affair and is very accurate, in my humble opinion. Well worth seeing, especially if you were wondering what the fuss was all about.

Centurion - Solid piece of genre filmmaking, Neil Marshall really shows how he's got a fantastic eye, bloody gory and fun - B

Due Date - Plot is kind of just thrown together and all the "heart felt" stuff comes off as fake but it's still pretty funny throughout even if it drags from time to time - C+

Alien on Bluray - Amazing xfer, video looks great - A
