I started watching this movie on netflix a while back that he was in. It was called The Sasquatch Gang. It was horrible. That's one of the few movies I've ever not finished.
I watched a little Netflix movie last night called "In The Loop". It's a mostly English film about the US and British government faking the case for a war, not necessarily Iraq and has James Gandolfini in a supporting role as a US general. But THE reason you should rent it is, there two supporting roles of Scotsmen in high positions in the British Government that just burn up the screen with the most profane dressing down for everyone they come in contact with. It probably adds up to 30 minutes of the movies total 115 minutes. The first time one of them comes on, it's just sort of shocking and seems to last longer than necessary but they keep coming back into the movie until it becomes side-splitingly hilarious. I have only dreamed of having the levels of soul crushing profanity skills they have. Worth a rent. Percy Jackson and the Olympians - was mildly curious but the previews didn't look anything special. And of course it's a blatant Harry Potter ripoff. It could never escape that stigma but within that was an epic story waiting to be told. I mean how can you go wrong with Greek mythology. Unfortunately, while this movie is not horrible, it's close. It's at least watchable but that's about it. 4/10 The Town - Excellent, complete film. 9/10
The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard 2/10 Only reason I don't give this a zero is because of Piven. He basically does Ari from Entourage but everyone else is pretty horrible.
The Last Airbender 4/10 Wow, I had pretty low expectations and even then they weren't met. The dialogue was ridiculously bad. I worked on the video game for this movie and love the cartoon series. I wanted so badly to like this film but...WoW.
I Spit on Your Grave(1978) - 8/10 Very good movie if you are into sexploitation movies. Classic rape revenge movie. Fast Times at Ridgemont High - 8/10 My first time seeing it unedited. Loved it. Enjoyable all the way around. The Ugly Truth - 6/10 A chick flick.
Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps (2010) 6/10 Disappointing, mediocre sequel. Nowhere near as compelling the first movie which was filled with memorable lines and moments like the Teldar Paper stockholder's meeting. With a cheesy and lighthearted soundtrack, an annoying Carey Mulligan (playing Gecko's daughter), and a cop-out Hollywood ending. The cinematography was great though. Btw, if you're even the slightest bit informed about the ongoing financial crisis from 2008, forget learning anything new from this movie. Besides one scene at Fordham's lecture hall about Gecko promoting his new book, there is very little technical discussion which I realize wouldn't be too entertaining for the average audience member.
These are my top 3 movies of 2010... 3. Four Lions: 9/10 I usually have a difficult time with comedies, I dont think I've ever considered a comedy one of the best movies of the year simply because I place too high of a value on drama, but Four Lions was really, really funny. It never tried to be too dark or dry....yet it wasn't cheap either. Nothing Personal: 9/10 Most people I know that have seen it thought it was slow and too dreary, but they did enjoy it. I like slow and dreary. Reminds me of the 2006 film Je Vais Bien Ne T'en Fias Pas in which the synopsis is rather flat, but the execution and cinematography is brilliant. AND THE SCORE WAS ACE! NSFW: nekked ginger at the end. Never Let Me Go: 10/10 God Damn. Stunning film. Not quite as beautiful as Michael Haneke's Das weiße Band from last year, but definitely the stand out best film of 2010 imo. Wallstreet 5/10 -Disappointing, I loved the original... Social Network - 6.5/10 - I don't get the hype, it was okay at best. Certainly not the best movie of 2010...
This is my favorite book of all time and I have been dying to see this, unfortunately, there is no theater in my area that plays this type of movie.
Superman Batman Apocalypse - B+ Feels like they tried to squeeze in a lot of stuff into it but it was still another solid entry into the DTV movie series Timm has produced, nice job of capturing Michael Turner's style.
Finally saw Let the Right One In this weekend, as I want to see the American remake. Unbelievably good film. It was thoughtful, moving, creepy... just a fantastic way to spend 2 hours. 8.5/10 As far as the American version, Let Me In, the citical response has been very positive, but wow, does it have a lot to live up to now, in my mind.
