Unborn - 7/10. A decent horror flick but it didn't creep me out. Hubby hates watching movies like this if it includes a child. Death Race - 7/10. So made for men. Jason Straum is hot! Brothers Bloom 8/10. An entertaining movie with a solid cast. A Single Man - 7/10. For some reason, I didn't really like this movie. it was slow. OK, I have had Hachi's on my top of my queue for like 2 months and it is STILL labeled "short wait" WTF is this really a popular movie??
2nd you on this one. I'm a white boy, but I don't think that matters. I think "Soul Food" is an excellent movie... criminally underrated. Just a great story about family.
Excellent movie. Streams for free on NetFlix and I saw that a couple of weeks ago, and was set to see the sequel ("The Girl Who Played with Fire") at the Angelika last Tuesday night... but that's a topic for a whole 'nother thread. Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - 8.5/10
I am with you that I am tired of Tyler Perry's movies. The best movie I liked is Diary of a Mad Black Woman.
Paris, Tx - 7.5 -8 While there is some drag here ( and most of that could be chalked up to being offbeat/pace ), the essence of Texas among other things shine through. Harry Dean Stanton is excellent.
Aaaaaaand STILL waiting.... Drag Me To Hell - 2/10. I thought this was supposed to be scary. It came off as a total cheesefest to me. It almost felt like a spoof it was so predictable and silly. At least the killer goat made me laugh. This month, I've watched Paranormal Activity, The Haunting in Connecticut, and now Drag Me to Hell. 0 for 3 on scary movies.
It is supposed to be a cheesefest, Raimi's classic movies has always been heavy on cheese, that's what was so great about Drag Me to Hell, returning to watch made Evil Dead so much fun.
Taker's 7....this is only because of Elba and Chris Brown getting shot towards the end of the movie* *May this be the fate of all women-beaters.
At least I wasn't alone in thinking it sucked, regardless if the sucking was deliberate. If they want to make a cheezy movie and not have people think it sucks, then they need to not promote it as if it is going to be well done and scary.
it was well done and it does have some legit jump momemts. It's not for everyone. But for those that appreciate the style, it's fantastic.
The Other Guys: 6/10 - Started hilarious... finished with a dud. The humor began to wane as the movie went along. The American: 4/10 - Slow, slow, slow, slow. Not much else to say. Lots of boobs, though.
Shutter Island: 7/10 - Probably the 4th best Non-M-Night-Shyamalan (bless you!) "TWIST!" movie I've seen. The Wild Stallion: 6/10 - A good teenage movie about saving horses with Miranda Cosgrove (hey, maybe Kam might like it )
may it is just you who sucks But really, i think a lot of people dont like drag me to hell because they are not sure how to react to it. Is it supposed to be scary? funny? a joke? etc etc.. In the end, if you like Sam's style, Drag me to hell was very good.
