Which one? I keep hearing people say they liked the most recent one but I wasn't impressed. I did like the 1975 version with Richard Chamberlain, but it's been awhile since I've seen it. Stuff I've seen somewhat recently: Kick-Ass - really a solid movie. I expected to like it and my expectations were exceeded. Hit Girl is so full of win and awesome. Can't wait for a sequel. I give it a solid 8.5/10. Constantine - wasn't bad if you're a fan of the genre. Keanu out-Keanu'd himself....like William Shatner doing a William Shatner impression, but it definitely could have been worse. Like I said, if you're a fan of the genre, there's more than enough to like. I give it 6/10. Legion - even if you're a fan of the genre, it's hard to find any redeeming qualities outside of some awesome gratuitous violence. 2/10. TMNT - I finally got around to watching this. Eh. 4/10. The French Connection - finally got around to seeing this. Glad I did. Damn good flick. Birth of the gritty cop drama. Gene Hackman is awesome. 8/10.
I was going to post the IMDB page, or the wiki page because I remember them describing each of the "mistakes" and their underlying meaning. But I couldn't find where I saw that.
Sunshine (2007) 8.5/10 Awesome movie by Danny Boyle. The plot: in the future, the sun is dying and Earth lives in another glacial period. A team of 7 astronauts must detonate a bomb to restart the Sun otherwise mankind perishes. With such high stakes, we see what humans do under pressure. Amazing visual FX as well, this is not one of those run-of-the-mill movies like "The Core" or "Day After Tomorrow".
I've never seen the 1975 version. I have nothing to compare it to so maybe that's why I like the more recent one. It's not on my top 10 list or anything, just a very likable movie to me.
Could not disagree more...while it was light on true scares, it was definitely an engaging movie...a standout in a bloated, often underwhelming genre.
I'm with you, just rewatched it this weekend on bluray and it was very well done. Think the director has some real talent, acting was fairly strong throughout. And for those who don't know The Crazies is a remake of the George Romero film of the same name.
The Road - 6/10 - Fairly depressing and a bit slow. I was annoyed that they never really explain WTF is going on in the world or why; I guess we're just meant to assume nuclear holocaust or something. Anyway, it kept my attention for the most part but was far from anything special.
I can see how someone unsuspecting of the story could find it slow. I guess i was used to it after the book. due to all the ash and since the sun was always blacked out i assumed it was an asteroid.
I always kind of figured it was World War III or something. Having read the book and seen the movie, that the cause of this post-apocalyptic world is never explained didn't bother me. I think the story was meant to stay as focused as possible on the Father and Son.
Cool, thanks. I can't imagine how M. Night Shamalamadingdong still gets work. The Happening is probably the worst movie I've ever seen. The Chronical gave it a "No Stars" rating. Zero. I found that funny, for some reason. Edit: The chron gave "No Stars" to Airbender, I meant. Dunno what they rated Happening.
I call it .. . THE HAPPENING . .the movie where nothing happened I did not see the 1975 one but I really liked the most recent one with Guy Peirce and Jim Cavizel I am a fan of the story so . .. i probably would like the old on too but I though Guy and Jim did excellent jobs in their roles Rocket River
My friend was responsible for dragging me into that disaster last week. I wish I had forced my way and gone to see Toy Story 3 instead. I don't know if I've ever gone to the movies and come back pissed off about a wasted evening that would have been much better spent at home doing nothing. That's how badly it sucked. I really hadn't bothered with most of Shyamalan's movies post-Sixth Sense, or I would have known better. Next time I'll learn to treat his name as a warning label.
Thanks for the warning. I've just finished watching the TV series and it's one of the best I've watched. If you haven't watched the TV series, I highly recommend it. It sucks that the movie sheds a bad light back on the anime. Why do they keep giving Shyamalan the money to keep making movies?
lighting? I agree. I'm curious but it didnt bother me either. I also agree that it's also irrelevant to the real story of the relationship between the 2 characters.
