Y.P.F., currently showing on cable's TMC late at night (and not often), but on demand and letterboxed. Y.P.F. stands for Young People ****ing, in case anyone wondered. It examines what happens to several couples, including a threesome, in one night. They are all different. There's the married couple who's sex lfe has become boring. What they end up doing to make it exciting will shock some people. There are the "exes," who go out on a date partly to prove they can be friends even if they are split, being friends amounting to "friends with benefits." There is the couple on a first date. Both have their own agenda, with surprising results. There are the longtime friends who have never dated, who decide to have sex just because they both need to get laid. Then there is the threesome, which is hilarious. All of the actors are very well cast in ther roles. They are attractive, but they don't look like models, which is nice. The acting is first rate. The flick is definitely MA, with a lot of nudity and, well, young people ****ing, but tastefully done. No porno here, but rather a film that in this aspect reminds me more of how the Europeans frequently deal with a similar subject. Want something fun to watch with a chick (or a guy, if you're a chick), something that will definitely get both of you "in the mood?" Check this out. Blade Runner Rating: 3 Stars
The Visitor (2007) 9/10 It's slow but the insight it gives to understanding our increasingly global world, and how contact with other people reveals a shared common humanity makes this an amazing movie. I.O.U.S.A. (2008) 8/10 Extremely compelling documentary that was released just before the '08 meltdown in Oct. It discusses the gargantuan national debt and its impact on the future of America and the world.
Death at a Funeral: 8/10. Hysterical british comedy. I heard they are remaking this for the US - a pity because the original deserves to be seen.
Just got back from Kick-Ass 4:20 pm show. There was only like 4people including me watching it. Totally an awesome movie. Great action and very well fight choreograph. Story was ok but I can live with it. I will have to check out the comic. I hope Matthew Vaughn stay away from X-Men and continued with Kick-Ass(hopefully) or hopefully direct Brian K Vaughn's graphic novel Runaways. 8/10!!!
How to train your Dragon: 6.5/10 I honestly don't know what people found so special about this movie. There wasn't much of an actual story, character development... every problem seemed to come with an quick, sudden solution... making every would-be conflict presented here (the issue between father and son, between the vikings and the dragons) seem rather trivial and hollow... and as far as visuals there was nothing we haven't seen before... also, it wasn't particularly entertaining... just ok on that level... sort of like Monsters vs. Aliens...
Sherlock Holmes - On a scale of up all night partying diarrhea the next day smell to the smell of high quality apple wood smoked bacon frying in a pan, I'd have to say it's a lot closer to diarrhea. I wouldn't watch this again if you paid me. Gigantic - same scale. in the middle. Definitely not Bacon, but not diarrhea. We'll call it Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Smells better than a fart, but nothing special.
Iron Man 2 - 7.0 Very disappointed in the quick & easy victories. They took the time to make a really awesome whiplash robot only to have him beat in a 2 minute battle. The only reason I liked it, somewhat, was because I can't get bored of seeing the Iron Man suit and War Machine suit. Also the briefcase suit was full of kickassery. Other than that, I don't think they really developed much of the characters or story, at all. This was an Avenger's prequel rather than an Iron Man sequel.
Ghost Dog: Way Of The Samurai (1999) 8.0/10 Forest Whitaker is awesome in this gangster movie about a hit-man who follows Oriental philosophy in NYC. The Fourth Protocol (1987) 7.0/10 Based on Frederick Forsyth's novel, Michael Caine redoes the Harry Palmer-style character in this solid Cold War thriller about an elite KGB aganet (Brosnan) armed with a nuclear device.
I agree totally. I was sooo disapponted in the fight scenes. Has anyone had the chance to watch the new Wall Street yet?
I'm probably the last to have seen Avatar in the whole world, but I just watched it on BlueRay. Totally unexpected that I would get into it so much. The visuals are feaking amazing! They need to re-release this for those of us too stuck up to shell out for the 3D thinking it was a phony kids movie.
Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs: Saw it in the theater and now on have it on bluray. If you think it's a kids movie, think again. It's better than Up imo and is littered with funny moments....it's got a ton of subtle humor. 8/10 Where the Wild Things Are: Felt it was lacking. The monsters were well designed, but I can see where kids might be scared; a few sequences were pretty mature. The movie as a whole is well polished. But the scenes didn't really connect that well. It just felt like a bunch of moments stuck together 6/10
A few days ago some friends introduced me to the worst movie ever made. And by virtue of that, it's one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. The Room. It's absolutely awful and so bad it is completely hilarious. Apparently it is well known as one of the worst movies ever, but I had never heard of it. Invite some friends over and watch it now! <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/KVvfau1fWrI&hl=en_US&fs=1&color1=0x402061&color2=0x9461ca"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/KVvfau1fWrI&hl=en_US&fs=1&color1=0x402061&color2=0x9461ca" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>
