I saw it a few weeks ago, and I actually liked it. It's certainly not a kids movie, like advertised. The entire film has a shadow of sadness throughout it. And it was a bit slow, but I guess I appreciate the story. I read that this was actually a lighter cut of the film, and that the original cut was much darker. Anyway...I'm a emotional guy, why? who knows...can't help it...probably childhood shat. But for me thumbs up.
I am an emotional guy also and I always love a good deep story but this just left me with a bad taste and a depressing spirit, and yeah I agree there was a cloud of sadness the whole time.... The characters just seemed depressed and hopless... I felt as if the little boy should have done something to help them but he didnt do anything..... Carol just ripped his friends hand out and nobody even seemed to care, there was like no moral to the story.... The little boy gave me an uncomfortable feeling, kind of like Macauly Culkin in the Good Son....
Yeah, saw Shutter Island as well. I would give it 4/10. It was very obvious as to where the story leads and just seemed like the story was "trying" to be good. I really expected more from Martin Scorsese and Leonardo Dicaprio since I enjoyed the Aviator and the Departed.
Paris je t'aime 9/10 Parisian short stories about relationships and romance. Having lived in Paris briefly I really enjoyed this. Slammin' Slamon 3/10 Broken Lizard's last film. As someone who works in this industry and Super Troopers being pure genius I found this to be utter crap. So much potential such ****ty execution.
2012 - 3 / 10 I knew it'd be terrible, but I couldnt resist it on Blu Ray Race to Witch Mountain - 3 / 10 Got stuck into watching with nephew... at least he enjoyed it.
I just watched Slammin Salmon the other day too. I'd give it a 5/10. It was r****ded, but had some funny spots.
Percy Jackass & The Lightning Thief - saw a third of it before realizing I'd rather read an encyclopedia than finishing this movie. Fast forwarded to the end. 3/10 Max Payne - Saw the intro and decided it sucked. Fast forwarded to the middle where Mark Whalberg was shooting at people. Fast forwarded to the end where Mark Whalberg shot at a dude on top of a building. 2/10 Spent a good 30 mins today watching 2 crap movies.
Raising Arizona on Blu-Ray Gotta admit, never watched a Blu-Ray disc before (friend's house). Tell me, is it just me, or is it just a bit weird watching these older films and having them seem like you're watching a live event? I guess I'd have to view some of these more, but after watching that and Pelham 1-2-3 on Blu-Ray- interesting difference, but don't know if it's necessarily better.
I'd give it a 5.5/10 Not nearly as funny as it looked on the commercial. (IMO of course) Decent storyline.
American Beauty. ~ 8/10 Besides the last 5 or 10 minutes, this movie was pretty awkward and made me feel uncomfortable on multiple occasions. But the end is where everything kind of ties together and the main character really solidifies the plot with a few words that provide meaning to the movie.
Monsters Inc. - 9.5/10 I haven't seen this movie in a long, long time and just rewatched it recently. Probably my pick for the best animation for the decade. Akira - ?/10 I still don't get this movie after like the 10th time watching it. Alive - 7/10 Just saw it for the first time on HBO. Pretty amazing story, especially since it's based on a true story (I think). Ethan Hawke looks almost the same then as he is now. He's like Keanu Reeves, they don't age.
