I saw "Thirst." It's a Korean film about vampires and sex. It was pretty good. From the same film maker that did Old Boy which was also pretty good.
In the Heat of the Night: 9 / 10 The transition of character interaction between Poiter and Steiger is brilliant. My favorite part is when Steiger asks Poiter as he makes a heated and thus illogical judgmental call: 'You're just like the rest of us'....
PONYO Watched this the other night with the wife, thought 'What the heck, why not, we enjoyed Howl's Moving Castle, and she has always been sort of a hidden Akira fan too.. So we put this in, not knowing ANYTHING about it really. First and foremost, if you ever want to watch a movie which pretty much epitomizes the term 'surreal' then this is your flick. I won't go into a whole review here, but I will say that the overall tone is a mixture of the sweetness of small children mixed in with some pretty disturbing scenes and concepts, very much like borderline bad dreams. But in the end, everyone winds up happy. To me, this is much more of a short story written down from a strange dream, than a more typical anime like paprika or Howl's Moving Castle. All in all, a nice little movie. I give it a 7 out of 10. There are some things in it which are just so foreign, so *Japanese*, and they just don't translate well. But if you like these sorts of things, it was very well done.
Dawn of the Dead(2004)...8.5/10..freaking great... Zombieland...6/10...started off great but felt apart in the second half and become a stupid movie...
My ratings were backwards on these 2 movies, I thought the new Dawn of the Dead was average at best while Zombieland was one of the most refreshing movies of last year. At least we both like zombie movies though
i agree with you. DofD was ok, but same old same old. Zombieland was a completely different take and just flat out hilarious.
Well of all the zombie's movies I've seen so far. Zombieland is probably the worst one just because it's a comedy. You never felt or have the feeling that they were ever in danger. I understand it's a comedy but a badly formulaic one and totally obvious. The stupid teenage romance turn it into a dumb down to stupid teenage movies for me.
Both movies were great I can;t believe some of you are hatin on Dawn of the Dead, that may be my favorite zombie movie ever
The original George Romero one is awesome. Probably the best zombie movie ever. It has the cheesy low budget effects, but other than that it is superior to the remake in every way. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/PpuNE1cX03c&hl=en_US&fs=1&color1=0x3a3a3a&color2=0x999999"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/PpuNE1cX03c&hl=en_US&fs=1&color1=0x3a3a3a&color2=0x999999" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Gamer - 3/10 I hated this movie with a passion. I turned it off 25 minutes in and forced myself to watch it later in the hopes it'd get better. There were just no redeeming qualities to this movie.
