So it ended up being alright, i felt it could have been better but a great performance by Viggo as usual. 7/10 Charlize Theron.
The Princess and the Frog - 7.5 - Not the best Disney movie but pretty good Up In the Air - 8 - It was good but kinda depressing
yeah its weird im not a big fan either. and it seems like that would be a type of movie i would like. who knows.
Still need to see the movie...for the way they advertised it I thought it'd be in more than one theater in Houston...oh well. But apparently they cut out one of the most dramatic, intense and tragic scenes from the book...I guess for good measure. And from the trailer at least, it doesn't seem, imo, to quite capture the atmosphere you feel from the book.
BRONSON 99% British movie about the most violent inmate in the UK prison system. very clockwork orange for the new millenium.
Daybreakers 4/10 The movie was weak and that is coming from a guy who will set the bar pretty low for a movie as long as it has vampires or zombies in it.
The trailer made the movie look more like an action flick that it really was. The movie was more about the father and son relationship. I have not read the book but I know people who have and they say the movie was pretty close and captured the mood. Give it a shot.
i watched Big Lebowski for the first time 4 weeks ago on Netflix. i got 3/4 of the way through. since stopping, i've never cared to finish it. maybe one day i will, but i didn't think too highly of it either.
The Big Lebowski is an acquired taste. The first time I saw it I thought it was terrible and couldn't believe how overrated it was, but that was when it was on Comedy Central, and the things they put in for the cuss words make it more absurdist than it already is. I liked it better when I finally saw it on DVD. The 3rd time I watched it I think is when I really started to think it was the best movie ever. An obsession evolved from there. I know several people who have reasonably good taste in film who think its overrated, but I maintain it is one of the most understatedly hilarious movies ever and I really think you can't watch it once and discard it, it really needs a 2nd viewing at minimum. Also, just saw The Hurt Locker this past week and it was really well done. It didn't really grab me emotionally, but it was so freaking intense, just awesome film-making. I'm not big on War films, but this is easily the best "modern" war film I've seen.
i actually enjoyed daybreakers. thought the gore at the end was a bit excessive, but other than that, great popcorn vampire movie. "are we safe" "we're humans in a vampire world. we're about as safe as going bareback on a $5 hooker" ah, willem dafoe. you're more than just denis leary's stunt double.
to each his own, i chuckled thoroughly. it was a subtle, dark, and well-acted indictment on the concept that the grass is always greener...
