Parasite: B Solid movie. Visually well made, mostly good acting, but not a particularly interesting script. I think most people pretty well got the gist by the halfway point.
I watched the Lost City a few days ago. It’s not really a movie I would’ve watched in my own but some of my family wanted to see it so watched it. Not bad. It’s pretty light fluff and the story is dumb but it’s entertaining. Daniel Radcliffe does a great job as the villain. Sandra Bullock is pretty good. Channing Tatum isn’t bad but even for a role he’s supposed to be wooden in was too wooden.
We saw the new fantastic beasts movie. I don't agree with Johnny Depp being replaced, but Miles Mikklesen plays an evil person better. It is a good follow up to the other two movies. I see it's not doing great at the box office
Watched Identity on Netflix last night. I am having a tough time giving it a score... it was categorized in the "90 minute" section where a number of made for TV mmovies is grouped... but this one had an interesting cast with John Cusack, Ray Liota, Amanda Peet, Rebecca DeMornay, Gary Busey's son, Alfred Molina, John C. McGinley and John Hawkes. So great cast. Odd movie about crime(s) that happen around this dive hotel during a huge storm. Won't say anything else as a spoiler. Maybe a 6 out of 10? And heck, seeing Rebecca DeMornay in a movie again? Gosh... her performance in Risky Business is one of the greatest of all time.
The Old Guard 6/10 it’s a movie on Netflix had some good action sequences, but nothing you haven’t seen before was also really predictable it did bring up some of the issues regarding immortality, but not in any real depth 1 person got a really bad punishment showing how fcked up being immortal can be I could see this concept being a TV show that lasts a short season or 2
Everything Everywhere at all Once .... 9/10. An awesome movie that was somehow composed every genre and made it work really well.
"Dual" - 9 out of 10. Laugh-out-loud funny, darkest of comedy with actually a lot to say. Makes me want to visit Finland more than ever. Best viewed knowing almost nothing about it, so I'll leave it there.
The Batman - 7/10 very dark basically zero humor at all. Reminded me of The Crow or Seven where every scene seems dark and rainy. Overall good script, acting, and entertaining.
Sweet. It's on my watchlist for whenever it streams somewhere. I tried to watch it at home during the day. It would have only been viewable with blackout curtains or by jacking the brightness up on my tv. So I waited and watched it at night.
Red Dawn the remake, 4.5/10. It's watchable. You grow up seeing the paramount logo on every movie you watch and then you get this streaming service Paramount plus and the choices are very limited. I clicked on Red Dawn after clowning it back in 2012. Plot: Kim Jong un has had enough of where the 2010s NBA is headed and decides to invade the Northwest. Thor and his me first quarterback brother use guerrilla tactics, quoting Viet Cong, to suppress the evil north koreans who want to capture all the blond hotties. The Wolverine quarterback learns lessons of being a team player along the way, shots are fired, buildings are blown, credits roll. I found the action scenes to be better coordinated than the original but Thor and his bro are not Swayze and Sheen. Not as endearing
Wow, War Horse sucked. Hallmark Channel level storytelling. It looked great, because Spielberg, but if anyone else directs it there's no way it's nominated for Best Picture.
